priest for maiden would've been an easy call for me, even if i technically listen to judas priest more than iron maiden, maiden is obviously a bigger name.
but i didn't want to trade metallica or megadeth. i considered king crimson, they are the odd duck out at my festival, but i still think it'd be rad to see robert fripp do whatever the hell he wants at a metal fest.

it's been several pages but we were talking about draft strategy. i don't do the thing where i come up with a hundred names, that's probably the better method, but instead i pretty much know what headliners i want, but since then i've spent the majority of the draft listening to various metal acts and playlists on spotify, which helps me remember old names and discover new ones. then when my turn comes up i look at who i've hearted recently on spotify and go from there.
i think the genre specificity is why i find this draft more enjoyable then the wide-open drafts. helps me to focus, and the discovery (or re-discovery) aspect is fun.

You should have a set of him and his wife just doing random shit
For me it was easy to not participate in this because while it would have been hilarious in the end losing an act so that I could have a top 3 of New Order - Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Pantera would have been fucking stupid.

Normally I have a board and make up a schedule in clashfinder beforehand but now I just go along with what I think of mostly on the spot. Not really doing the cliche metal blockbuster or doom/psych fest kind of also helps me think outside of the box instead of to focus like a couple of sub genres.
I have a place in mind for the location and building around that. Looking at a boutique festival vs a 4 day rager that is more curated towards a specific audience. Iron Maiden would be a silly get for this tbh.
Also looking to book a lineup that’s 50/50 in gender diversity as metal / punk is a big old sausage party. I thought it would be a lot rougher but thus far, pretty simple.
Obviously it’s a fantasy draft vs real life touring schedules.

Definitely my thinking too. I've always been super jealous of southern LA Spanish punk / goth fests which is where I was going when I wanted Morrissey even tho I don't like him. And lots of punk fests are bill hip hop so tying that in too.

Also any recommendations on billing:
The Rolling Stones - Odd Future: Reunion - The Cure
Rage Against The Machine - Fall Out Boy - Muse
Not sure if I should go from 3 to 4 headliners at this point. Also looks like I might get AC/DC which I think would he somewhere up here too.
Not sure if FOB is to high but they seem huge since I'm from Chicago. My fest is gonna either be in Mexico City or Southen California. OF May seem high but you gotta remember that included 2 coachella level headliners: Tyler and Frank Ocean + mid tier groups like Syd, Steve Lacy, Earl. Muse might be pretty big in Mexico.
