this draft definitely makes me hungrier than any previous draft.
I would eat everything drafted so far except the mussels, but that's a me thing, not cincis fault at all
yeah i'd eat everything drafted so far with enthusiasm, mussels included.
there aren't a lot of foods i don't like. the only foods i'm weird about are salmon and sweet potatoes. i don't like baked salmon, but i LOVE smoked salmon or sushi salmon. i don't like baked sweet potatoes, but i'll eat mashed sweet potatoes or sweet potato fries all day.

It's been a heavy meal, you're pretty full after that steak, why not kick back with a delicately made bourbon Old Fashioned? (Idk 3post1jack1 is this allowed? I'll add more details if so, but don't wanna write up a whole description if you're just gonna shoot it down)
i see no issue with it. if a milkshake would be allowed and is liquid dessert, why not an old fashioned?
not everyone drinks alcohol, is a pertinent detail. but also, not everyone eats meat (of the judges, i think maybe all do though?), while others are gonna look down on a meal that DOESNT have meat (e.g. mine), so i think it is probably fine so long as you know not everyone will dig it.

My mom drinks Old Fashioneds, so for Christmas, I made her a basket with glasses, some bar tools, bitters, an ice tray for 2” ice cubes, sugar cubes, etc. I had my first Old Fashioned when we were snowed in the next night. It was pretty darned good.
Also, she orders them because she says she doesn’t know what else to order, so my brothers, my younger brother’s girlfriend, and I went in together and got her a subscription to Shaker & Spoon. The husband and I are doing dry January+, but I think when we get done, we may do a subscription for ourselves too because it seems fun.

I had a Mediterranean veggie sandwich from Panera today, and I’m realizing now that I think your picks may have influenced my lunch decision. Also, this sounds so good.

nice!! I've been craving olives because of the light research I've been doing. I guess there are worse ways to be influenced

I'm doing Dry January+ too (idk what your "+" means but mine is pretty much an indefinite break at this point, planning to probably go through the entirety of 2023 sans alcohol), and I'm having lots of fun playing around with mocktails! Might even splurge on a whiskey alternative to try doing a mocktail akin to old fashioneds, as I have always liked those.

I’ve never really done cocktails until recently, but I was kind of picking up a taste for them at the end of last year. Making cocktails or mocktails seems fun, though!
We haven’t really decided about the extent of the plus yet. Just figured we’d start with January and see how long it goes. We’ve both been working out a lot and I’ve been trying to stay in a small calorie deficit since the first of the month, so we figured an alcohol break would make that easier.
I'm going with the route that they actually do in Italy, where a main might be risotto/pasta and then the side dishes are hearty. With that, to get some more protein in the meal for those #ButWhereDoVegoonsGetProtein crowd:
Tofu Cacciatore, a plant based spin off the Italian classic cacciatore - complete with fire roasted tomatoes, Kalamata olives, and plenty of rosemary & garlic. The tofu is first briefly frozen, then thawed and pressed (this is how to make tofu fucking delicious; if you dislike tofu, you prob haven't had it made that way, it is a game changer for texture), and finally twice-baked: first at a lower temp in order to prep for the right texture, then again at a higher temp for 6-8 minutes with salt, pepper, lemon, olive oil and garlic to get the chicken-like texture necessary for this dish.

not sure if we can make it happen but i think it'd be fun to do a Judges Table zoom call where all the participants and judges have a call so we can ask questions about the participants choices and announce the winner.
are we gonna do this? Idk if I could make it happen til next week

if we do it it's next week at the earliest for me, if that. my schedule is tough for a while.
