After 7 years, including a failed attempt in 2021 where we were about an hour away when they called it, I'm returning this year!
I remember everything about the logistics....from 2015.
Please tell me all about the changes since then.
Have they been good updates? Pointless?
Talk to me like I've been asleep since July of 2015.
The bathrooms are probably the biggest and best improvement over the years.
Some roads in the campgrounds are now paved, which should reduce the amount of dust.
Unless there are massive improvements to it, last year’s JamTrak was an effort in futility. A string of a few golf carts that at best could carry some 16-20 people, goin’ in only one direction, on a static route through the campgrounds where it would only stop at certain points.
If you enjoyed the Comedy Theatre or the Cinema Tent they’re gone gone. In fact I thought most of the ol’ places you could hide from the heat and get some A/C were gone last year.
But there are giant fans mounted to the ceilin’s of This and That now which are nice.
Amish Donuts isn’t comin’ back this year.
The Brooers Festival is a ghost of its former self and was moved over by the Big Ass Water Slide, which was a terrible decision.
Tent Only is now out in Super BFE. Or at least nowhere near as close as it used to be.
The latest performances will all be on The Other, which is the EDM stage now instead of the smallest tent, and there will be smaller LN performances at Where In The Woods (I believe formally The Grove).
The Silent Disco has moved and I think it’s a little bigger.
Last time I was in the Comedy Tent, I walked out and played in the Sonic Forest. So....like a million years ago.
I like the idea of the fans. Some of those Afternoon shows were brutal.
The term JamTrak means absolutely nothing to me.
They hyped up this Jamtrak to be like a subway system, or something useful that could help you get around the farm quickly. It sounded like a good idea in theory. In reality, you often had to wait quite a long time for it, the "train" might be full when it got to you, it only made a few stops, and if you wanted to go counterclockwise on the map, you were going to have to ride the thing all the way around, since it only went clockwise. We used it a few times, until I convinced my campmate that it actually took longer than walking to and from our campsite, and we had to walk a bit just to get to the nearest station. The old golf cart taxis were much better, albeit not free, as are the pedicabs now.
A lot of what's referenced above sounds kind of negative, and rightly so. But they've tried to add more to the campground pods, I mean plazas, each of which has a unique theme. They have decent bathrooms now, and pretty nice permanent showers. Some of the performances in the plazas seemed to be well received. There are charging stations.
As mentioned, Tent Only ain't what it used to be. The main benefit, being right outside the arch, has been negated by moving it much farther away. It is still a way to camp with friends you don't arrive with, but most of that crowd goes to Groop now I guess, so TO is mainly just for whomever doesn't drive in.
The Centeroo entrance by the clock tower is gone - go to the arch. This wasn't much of a problem last year, as I don't really remember waiting very long anywhere for anything, although that is certainly due in part to the low attendance.
Entry last year was amazing. Not sure if it was just because we were kinda early on Wednesday, but we encountered ZERO wait. We'll be trying the same thing this year. Willcall was outside at the high school in the beating sun, but it was well organized and there was no line when I was there. There's no highway tollbooth.
You pick an entry day now when you buy your camping pass, which is distinct from your wristband. And this year they're actually saying that earlier arrivals will get closer spots. We'll see. And you may have noticed that the ticket structure is different, with camping and wristbands being separate, i.e. you can camp in the former VIP area with a GA wristband, for example.
Things that haven't changed: still not enough shade in Centeroo, food and beverages are pricey, the music is loud, and you'll have fun.

WOW! Thank you so much for all of the information.
So JamTrak is just an attempt at a reworked version of festicab. But without the stinky gas powered golf carts. I'll stick with walking.
It's really sad how TO has basically been fazed out without being done away with.
As far as showers and bathrooms go...I never really had an issue with them. I've been going to camping festivals since 1998 so figuring shit out kind of was just a given. however, I'm not 16 anymore so a hot shower and a non-overflowing porto is really fucking enticing to my almost 39 year old self.
Also....my 39 year old self will be in Moon Colony in a pre-set up camp....so I'm going to be fancy this year. haha.

Sort of - Jamtrak is still basically gas-powered golf carts, but now they're free, don't go where you want, and pull a couple more cars of people. You won't need it. I wanted to go semi-fancyish and car camp in Moon Colony but my friends are less sure they want to pay any extra, so we probably missed our chance. That looks like a good spot, without having to pay for full-on VIP, although Area 931 is THE spot. RIP Tent Only.

I would probably be fine with GA car camping. But we’re being lazy since we haven’t been back in so many years.

Hey everyone, it's been forever. Chefchick and I are considering a last minute run to Bonnaroo. what's the best way to go about getting last minute tix? We haven't decided on VIP or not. Do I need a separate carpass?
