Going. Never been to this festival. Need the deets.
Welcome Exalted Moderator! If you're in it for the music, B&B Mint VIP is the best value in the industry IMO. Also I highly recommend a distillery tour- we've done Woodford Estates, Buffalo Trace and Maker's Mark- all different but really enjoyable- especially the ride through some beautiful country. Book well in advance as many sell out long before the festival.
This makes me feel better. Have heard some really rough things about the crowd for the festival.
Don't listen to them. It's easily the most chill/friendly festival I've been to. People that complain about the crowd are people that used to everyone being drugged up at fests
Looks like VIP is sold out. Am I going to have to bitch slap someone over a blankie saving a chair?
Ugh. I thought you already got your ticket. It was on a trajectory to sell out super fast whereas it used to take a few months. I only walked around the GA area to go to some of the installations, so I don't know if a chair zone is new or something that they had in place previously. You definitely wanted that VIP, but I can imagine that they aren't going to be cheap. Were I a scalper, this tier would have been an easy target.
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.
Seems odd how there's such a huge price gap between GA and VIP. What exactly are you getting for VIP, besides the first 100 feet at the stage
Looks like there will be more at the $719 tier pricing eventually since all the others are crossed through. It's what you alluded to for VIP Mint (regular VIP whereas the Beyond gets you free alcohol all weekend among other perks). They also have a shaded area place all the way to the left if you're facing the stage. This will be hard to find a spot in. Obviously in order to get your money's worth with Beyond, you'd have to drink about 20 drinks a day each of the 4 days. We were in that ballpark
Regular VIP Access to GA Dedicated Festival Entry Lanes Commemorative Laminate and access to Mint areas VIP in front of both main stages Shaded lounge with "comfortable" seating + live video and audio streams of main stages (gets packed in there) Dedicated bars with full beverage options (for additional purchase) Outdoor seating with views of the main stages Premium food offerings (for additional purchase) <-- I think was an extra food truck or two Air-conditioned, flushable restrooms Dedicated merch stand Locker rental with charging (for additional purchase) <-- not sure why this is called a perk unless there's a VIP-only locker section
Beyond gives you Dedicated viewing in front of a main stage (plus regular VIP viewing shared at other main) AC lounge Shaded viewing platform with elevated view of both main stages Complimentary hors d'oeuvres from Chef Lamas All inclusive beer, wine, cocktails throughout the Beyond VIP area (is Angel's Envy regular and Rye) Ultra premium single barrel offerings for extra purchase Complimentary wi-fi Concierge services Dedicated merch stand First right to renew Beyond VIP for 2025
Here's a look at how this actually is. Barrel & Oak Stages are the main stages
Here's a view of the main stages. All the way to the right is the Beyond VIP lounge. The tent before it is shaded and there's another one next to that for the private performances. All the way to the left of the main stages is a bar and then you see the white tent which is the shaded sit-down area. If you could keep walking that side away from the main stages and went out the VIP exit on that side (it's super only exit on the other side), you'd run into the bluegrass situation area and also the bourbon/chef stage. The food places and installations are mostly out on the perimeters. And there are some art type things which mostly are just giant upright squares for something to take photos at.

I did get VIP. Just surprised it was already sold out.

I really try to avoid being another guy who says “the crowd for this or that is going to be terrible,” but a bunch of casuals drinking bourbon all day and then seeing a Neil set they didn’t expect to be solo acoustic might not go over well.

I think it'll be a mixed bag since there's appetite and a place on that lineup for solo/acoustic Neil (why he was #4 on the lineup?).
The only crowd issue we had was during St. Vincent which was like a mortuary. She was up there killing the fuck out of everything and maybe a few people besides me and E appreciated? Eventually more came around to it as she started playing more guitar. But the funeral-like atmosphere halfway ruined the show for me. She was apparently unfamiliar to the crowd that night and was before GVF and Pearl Jam. I think Neil would be on a different path since almost everyone there that night will know at least some of Heart of Gold, Sugar Mountain, Old Man, Needle and the Damage Done, Ohio, Hey Hey My My, Helpless, Powderfinger, etc. and thus have some familiarity with his music. But you might end up being right.

This is my fear lol. I’m also not convinced yet that it’ll be solo acoustic. I could see it being a hodgepodge of POTR and Crazy Horse

I also wonder if it’s not as casual as you’d think? I mean I’m going specifically for Neil, and everything else is a bonus. Go how little this guy tours, I would be surprised if most VIP Thursday tickets were bought specifically for Neil and are ready and willing to embrace solo acoustic set, if that’s what it ends up being

Farm Aid last year was solo acoustic. Since this will probably be the same weekend that’s why I’m expecting that here unless we get word otherwise. And I agree if you’re VIP or right up front you’ll probably be okay.
I saw Neil do a solo show at the Fox in Detroit, and the crowd wasn’t library quiet but it was in the range of normal for a seated show. Neil got all mad about it though and it became “a thing.” No way this audience isn’t worse (as you’d expect at a fest). Maybe he just keeps it to 45 minutes like a Farm Aid set but then even the “real fans” will be unhappy
