Man, who the hell do they get to play this? It's been two weeks and Neil is still all over the website. Not many artists who A) fit the demographic B) are big enough to headline and C) are out playing shows this year. Speedy return of Jack White after 2022?

I’d like to see JW III again but I suspect B&B would be refunding lots of Thursday one-days.
My last dumb slim-chance idea, I promise: a classic rocker who’s been around for a half century like Neil, currently on a stadium tour, no shows between 9/13 in Cleveland and 9/27 in St.Louis: Billy Joel. Crazy, but hell- they booked Bruno Mars last year. BJ grew up playing bars, and this is a bourbon-themed festival.
Nah, too expensive…you guys are right, Beck’s getting promoted…

Today, on Facebook- at least Thursday’s sets. Looks like they’re gonna spoon-feed us a day at a time. Other notable differences: more artists, shorter sets, more conflicts, five (!) stages (vs. three last year).

I guess they’re spoiled with the way the fest has been set up in the past and being able to see everything minus Bluegrass without conflicts. I’m not liking Fleet Foxes vs Amanda Shires or Teseschi Trucks vs Red Clay Strays, but I’ll live. Seems like they’re giving the country crowd something else to do during the big headliners like Sting and DMB. It will be interesting to see if they change that format up Saturday and Sunday when Zach Bryan and Tyler Childers are closing the main.
Well this on top of blanketgate has them stirred up.
The no blankets policy is a mess. I doubt I’ll be sitting anyway but sucks for those who want to. Looks like I wasted my money on VIP main stage access. Haha. I’m sure I’ll use it the last two days. Hopefully they don’t put MMJ up against Tyler. The two Kentucky acts should close out the 2 main stages the last day.

The no blankets policy was necessary, and it was probably people like those complainers that caused it - I don't mind blankets at all, but people at this fest would bring blankets the size of tarps and scream at anyone approaching in case they would step on their precious area, or spread theirs over a massive area at gates then show up 10 minutes before the headliner. I'm glad it's gone and see it as a positive!
Definitely some tough conflicts so far, I have some listening to do and make some choices.

This, exactly!
It was especially bad in the side VIP section. Each time we exited the main stage viewing area we had to play hopscotch around the blankets. It didn’t help that the organizers hadn’t established a clear walkway through/around the blanket area. VIP is still a bargain, for the up-front viewing alone, where we never had a problem finding a good viewing spot (once you move past the cluster entering the area).
Overall, this was a well-run festival last year (and in 2019) and it looks like they’re taking steps to solve issues.
All I wanted from Sunday was to be able to see War on Drugs/MMJ/National in a row not conflicting with each other so I’m thrilled.
Yeah. VIP is worth it for that day. Only wish Dinosaur Jr was earlier instead of during National>MMJ. Not much going on during what’s left of The Beach Boys. That will be a good time to eat for me.
Quiet afternoon so I marked up what I’d like to see each day. When I began to fret about the handful of conflicts, I realized that if they took away the three smaller stages and their acts, it would still be a great lineup with just the two main stages. Toughest choice for me is The National (saw them twice last year) vs. Lucius (never seen)- so we’re going with Lucius. Will they take away my Sad Dad membership card?
So many great acts we’ve never seen- Saturday will be all first-time-live stuff for us. In this era of so many similar-looking festival lineups, Bourbon & Beyond will be a refreshing change.
New map is up, much larger SRO section, chair/blanket area is way in the back
Yeah MF. Those areas were underutilized in the past mostly just art installation things and perimeter vendors. I forgot Cory Wong was playing this which would be Top 1 for me then probably Jacket. But the funnest thing about the fest (besides drinking heavily) were all the chefs. If you get to any of those shows 10-15 minutes early (@ The Workshop) you can ask to participate and often will get comped whatever the chefs are cooking or demo'ing. Ed Lee, Amanda Frietag, Chris Santos and Marc Murphy stand out among the chefs IMHO.
