there is a certain generation that really really loves Doug. i should be in that generation, but while I remember watching and enjoying Doug as a youth, i did not retain any emotional attachment to the show.

I know lots of people that rewatch all kinds of shows ironically/un ironically for nostalgia reasons. None of those shows are Doug.
Technically Doug was right on the cusp of shit I should be watching-ish. But I was a weird teenager and Doug was after I graduated and pretending to be an adult or something, so it doesn't do it for me. If it was something like Wacko's rendition of the 50 states and capitals (or any other song) then I would be fighting the line for Wacko (Yakko or Dot) tooth and nail. But, not Doug.

I wouldn't say I really have a huge emotional attachment to it, but I definitely remember watching the doug - rugrats - ren & stimpy run on nickelodeon. it was ostensibly a show about a nerdy kid at a new school trying to fit in, but the show itself was pretty absurdist. I rewatched a few episodes with my older kid a couple years ago and there's some pretty funny stuff in there, but it's overall a pretty wholesome, feel-good kids show.
