Tots are... tots. Fries can be waffle, steak, thin cut, curly, etc. Fries have a much higher ceiling.
And that's why this question is impossible to answer without more detail or some clarification. Good fries are to die for but tots are more consistent and destroy crumby fries.
And I am definitely not a loader. All I want with fries or tots is salt and pepper, and maybe some ketchup or malt vinegar on the side. Nothing wrong with concoctions like chili fries, but fries are a side for me, not an entree.
And sweet potato fries are trash, like all uses of sweet potatoes.

I voted French fries. I like tater tots (fucking tarot toys autocorrect - looking your way LLL). But I only want them if they are made in house. Like most everyone else, we would have frozen tots for a dinner side every couple weeks. And I like them enough, but they have too much fat and sodium to start out.
What does this mean? My mom was French and cooked fried potatoes at home and called them French fries. She didn’t double fry them like you would with a potato soufflé or for double crisp but she did use an electric skillet. I miss having one of those to be honest.
