I really didn’t feel over packed for any of tent acts this year. We were pretty close for all of these other than Metro which we didn’t even bother trying to get into the Sahara for knowing it would be rough.
Agreed. Labrinth Weekend 2 was apparently impossible. But other than Metro, I didn't have any issues getting into Sahara / Gobi / Mojave all of Weekend 1.
I was at Labrinth 15 minutes before start because I had to pee right after Underworld. We were at the inside edge of the screen through the 2nd opening so about 10-15 rows of people back. We dipped before the set was over and the crowd had gotten massive by then but we got out from the right side and around the crowd in about 10 minutes. Only thing holding us up were the people sitting in the middle of a giant crowd, which I don’t get especially at night. Now exiting the venue from the end of Prydz before Calvin Harris came on was another story. That’s the most uncomfortable I was all weekend.
Coachella has a weird obsession with putting acts on stages too small for their crowd size. Are they really that oblivious or they think it's cool to see a mad over flooded tent? Blondie, Labrinth, Metro all should have been outside. (And Blink wk1)
Blondie was fine in the Mojave W2. It was crowded but not even uncomfortable on the side up as far as the sound stage.
Plus people were consistently filing out throughout the set.
I'm surprised at how few people on this board are including Rihanna in their 2024 headliner predictions. Wasn't her pregnancy the entire reason as to why the line-up was delayed in the first place? Or do we think this has more to do with Bad Bunny / Frank Ocean potentially getting cold feet?

From what I heard, the delay had to do with Bad Bunny.

In terms of potential undercard acts, Sigur Rós and Slowdive are both wrapping up new albums. Really enjoyed Slowdive's last album, and I think they would be a good fit as a 3rd/4th line act with an evening set in the Gobi or the Sonora.

Slowdive are probably too big for the Sonora
Possibly. I don't have a great idea of how popular they are in the US (I just know that they are bigger in Europe). I would've said the same thing about Magdalena Bay, but Coachella gave them a late afternoon time slot in the Sonora.
The shows Frank did on his previous tour were fantastic.
Rihanna did the halftime show while pregnant and entertained us for 15 mins with the world watching. Frank didnt even have the balls to let his set be shown and he got fucking paid to perform. We'll take a supposed boring Rihanna.

I honestly have no clue what point you’re trying to make? Frank sucked this year. Your comment is just all whataboutism.

I will say that it feels like all of the adoration of his shows last decade comes from people who also seem to really really like his music in general. To me it is slow and uninteresting (to each their own, his style is way outside of my tastes) and especially seeing the praise that he did garner for this Coachella show, it seems like the appeal is more of an appreciation of seeing a great singer sing songs they love, rather than any notable live presence, charisma, dancing, production, etc. The sort of things that normally get me on board with performers whose music I'm otherwise not especially into.
All this to say, unless he were to come through with a spectacle (like 100 ice skaters, I guess) his past performances don't really indicate that they'd appeal much to people that weren't already big fans of his music. I fully intended to leave after 2 songs W1 (ironically I ended up staying there longer, waiting for 30 minutes for him to show up, than I probably would have if he'd been on time). But I've only seen small amounts of his prior performances on videos, so it's possible I'm way off. But he definitely seems like the sort of performer who would be left with only his die-hard fans halfway through a closing set at ~11pm.

Wishlist: Since someone at Gv has their ear to the LA streets with the booking of Emo Nite, Donovan’s Yard and Foreignerr in the campgrounds I am now wishing for Hood Rave in the Yuma or Sonora.
Bae Bae already did Heineken House so should be a no brainer.

Also keep the Greenhouse. That was so much more fun than The Dome
