some of y'all are taking the returning to the desert thing a bit too far. The Cure and Pearl Jam? They are much bigger than Calvin Harris and SHM. Come on lol.
Calvin had by far the biggest crowd of the weekend
Sure but Calvin plays nighclubs in Vegas. The Cure sell out multiple nights at arenas. He might be a bigger draw for the Coachella crowd, but Robert's not going to take anything less than a two hour set.

the biggest crowd of all time. it would dwarf Pearl Jam or The Cure's pull at Coachella lol

Idk if you've seen the clubs he plays in Vegas, but they're not exactly the 9:30 Club

The Cure seems slightly more viable as a headliner here due to higher demand for the upcoming tour, but the RTTD/bolded subs trend kinda works against them. I know I'm a broken record on this point around here, but there's zero chance RS wants to play 70-80 minutes before an EDM act closes the stage, and I can't see a scenario where they outright headline and get 2+ hours. Makes way more sense for them to do another Daydream style event with GV. Better for the band, better for the fans.
Seeing Bieber at everyone of these lately makes me worried for Bieberchella 2024
He tried to submarine The Weeknd last year for the Kanye spot and still couldnt make it happen. Maybe they should sign him as backup and if you had to put his name on the poster 48 hours before the fest theres almost no time to piss people off. Or look on the bright side, you beat the crowds.

Didn't Bad Bunny basically get 2 hours? I don't see why The Cure getting a similar set length would be an issue.
Regardless, I don't see The Cure getting booked again so it's probably a moot point.
Pearl Jam, Oasis, NIN, and The Cure have all been throw out earnestly in the last few pages ... and none by me, wow
You can find various trend threads in recent headliners, and I think some people are reading too much into the international aspect this year. They are just looking for big events that make news cycles and have a bunch of people tuning in. That's not PJ or The Cure just playing a really good show. Its Dua Lipa's tour debut, Kendrick doing a unique tour closing set, a Cardi B and Megan doing a one-off on the women of hip-hop for 90 minutes, etc. PT has - to a fault possibly- been driving for the spectacle over the solid, steady option for years.

I cant even name more than 3 Taylor Swift songs but I think her headining Coachella would be pretty dope. She's prob the only person that can come close to Bad Bunny in terms of numbers right now. If that's our major act that would be pretty cool.
Coachella has a weird obsession with putting acts on stages too small for their crowd size. Are they really that oblivious or they think it's cool to see a mad over flooded tent? Blondie, Labrinth, Metro all should have been outside. (And Blink wk1)
Blondie was fine in the Mojave W2. It was crowded but not even uncomfortable on the side up as far as the sound stage.

think its more a horse trading/respect thing for acts and agents. Chems and Prydz had no business closing the outdoor in terms of crowd size, both could have been in sahara or even mojave. similar with Bjork as second to last on main.

Chems you mightve been able to squeeze their show in Mojave, but Prydz I dont think so. Dont know if theres even 4k screens in Mojave yet. The Sahara design presented a challenge for Holo anyway if you wanna look back at it now in retrospect of all the discussion there was on here. It wouldve looked weird af with the screen standing straight up and if you were on the side you just see behind and Eric just standing on the decks. Having it be " enclosed" made the effects and visuals pop how he wanted them to. You couldve put Holo on main and done it how Frank did with the whole front being Led screen and people mightve lost their shit. Bjork couldve been on Outdoor but who cares, the people that were there enioyed it especially with all the room and almost nobody talking. Sucks it wasnt streamed cause I watched the second half of her w2 set from direct feed and it looked amazing esp with the aerials of the drones doing their thing

I really didn’t feel over packed for any of tent acts this year. We were pretty close for all of these other than Metro which we didn’t even bother trying to get into the Sahara for knowing it would be rough.

Agreed. Labrinth Weekend 2 was apparently impossible. But other than Metro, I didn't have any issues getting into Sahara / Gobi / Mojave all of Weekend 1.
