Based on their billing for ACL they’d be lucky to make 2nd line
I just want to step in and give my 2¢ as a high school teacher. Every month or so I have my students write down 3 to 5 songs that they want to hear as part of a classroom playlist, then I’ll play while the kids work. I’ve been doing this for about five years now. I don’t think I’ve ever seen such a shift in popularity in less than 6 month from a band quite like Deftones have. Deftones have the Lana/Tyler demographic in a fucking headlock.
So it sounds like after skimming this thread the past couple of days without really reading anything that I missed a lot, may be confused about the information we've actually received, and have no idea what's actually happening. I have no plans on changing any of this because Golenvoice is going to release their lineup in two days with all my favorite artists on it 🙌🙌🙌

This is wonderful news. I'm thinking last name on second line. I also am pulling for Kraftwerk, Massive Attack, A$AP Rocky, Skrillex, and Nas as second liners. We need some great and strange names to balance the bill.

I was gonna say, Deftones have had a surge in popularity since they played ACL in 2018. They’d also probably get a California bump so I’d be surprised to see them billed lower than second line.
Deftones definitely have some Gen Z pull. I use my younger cousin as a reference point and she and her friends treat them like Millennials treated Soundgarden (RIP Chris). I think a sunset Outdoor slot sounds about right

I didn’t stay for the full set as I wanted to see M83, but from what I saw of their Just Like Heaven set they were pretty good, better than when I saw them at Panorama.

a band hating playing their biggest hits is not much of an endorsement for their live show lol. The Stones have been playing Satisfaction for nearly 60 years and they still bring it when they play the song.
