Headliners are a bit underwhelming sure, but they're all solid. Not elusive by any means but how many acts are extremely elusive, still performing, and willing to do coachella every single year anyways. This lineup could be a lot worse and persoanlly i like these 3 better than the headliners we had last year(including calvin harris) should be fun and theres still a lot of room under them to have a great lineup. If we had a better picture of who was in the undercard and they were also underwhelming i'd understand the disappointment a bit more, but there are still so many acts to be announced.
I just cant believe they are fully cashing in on Gen Z this go around. Like I get that Tyler and Lana have been around since 2012ish but cmon... all three of these headliners are notable for their popularity post-pandemic
I feel like you have to be a teenager to not question the strength of this topline.
Has anyone here seen Fred again at a festival not named Coachella? Because it’s really not good
I have, so much better indoor than festivals. At festivals he can’t build up his songs since the set is short. He needs an hour and half like his tour shows.

aside from calvin harris and i guess skrillex you could say the same thing for last years lineup, the festival is catching up to whose popular now rather than 20 years ago. We can have legacy acts from year to year sure, but newer generations are coming of age and actually are able to afford to go to coachella now(last year was my first year actually being able to afford to go as a gen z) and i think the lineup is reflecting who new audiences would want to see. Speaking on the rolling stones rumor, they would've been cool to see, sure they're legends, but how many young people would have paid to solely see them, probably not a lot.

Fred has to figure out how to organize his show’s energy level. Coachella was great because it was a short set and he started slow and then had high energy for the last 3/4 of the show. Feels like he has struggled to find that line for his longer shows, and let’s be real he isn’t the strongest vocal performer. I would agree that while Fred’s music may be a lot of people’s favorites he’s easily the weakest performing headliner of 6 noted currently.

Lana > Tyler > Fred > Doja > RHCP > Post Malone The fact that Post Malone has never released a good album. RHCP is McDonalds-level accessible at this point.
Lana, Tyler and Doja have all been very easy to see as well?

Doja is just a ridiculously lazy booking in context of the other two underwhelming names. The only rational explanation would be cost-cutting or desperate fill-in for something better that fell through.
Coachella built its reputation by having a mix of legends and whatever's popular with the younger crowd at that particular time. I know the festival has been moving further away from that, but there's nothing interesting about these 3 acts in 2024.
I know we’re all concerned about Doja, but I’d also like to add this wet blanket to the mix: RTTD Rufus Du Sol is about as cool as republican rap
The good news is, most major tech companies are doing big layoff rounds. The bad news is, that’s not going to stop the techbros from coming anyways tbh.
