I don't think its any "weaker" than 2019, but in 2019 I was super excited about catching tame and childish gambino and this year I'm not really excited about any of them.
Will probably catch at least a bit of all of them though.
Ariana is a way more impressive get than lany of ana/tyler/doja. No question.
Focusing on big get vs quality of performance is a huge L. Tame Impala is by far the better show of those three that year, and this forum is in consensus that he wasn’t really big enough to headline that year either. Stellar performers> pop stars with #1 singles. I remember when everyone used to think the big pop radio stars all sucked.
Look complain all you want about Lana-Tyler-Doja, I’m just glad that I can rely on Coachella to not book a headliner trio of exclusively white men in 2024.

I’ll just speak for myself: I don’t equate valuing diversity with lowering standards and I do see a lack of diversity as a detractor of value.
Can someone ask the old lady from Egypt what she thinks of Lana Del Rey headlining Coachella so we can know whether the festival has redeemed its reputation as a laughingstock worldwide

Best case (thought unlikely) scenario with Lana/Tyler/Doja is that one of them is actually RTTD and there's another name confirmed. Even though we've heard the word "headliner" tossed around with these, it's not impossible to think one of them is actually in that RTTD spot but the source does or does not know that and is still referring them as a "headliner". Hell, we've seen agencies call their artist a Coachella "headliner" because they closed out the Sahara lol.

Yesterdays Coachella is not today’s Coachella.
I’d say Lana and Tyler are more reminiscent of old Coachella actually. Strong live reputation and decade plus of critical acclaim that’s somewhat transcended their cult followings.
Don’t necessarily disagree with your point about doja, but I can say her tour was absolute gas. One of the better rap performers I’ve ever seen and is sure to win over new fans on the fields. Went bc gf but definitely not upset about it.
The larger pool of who’s big enough to warrant a headline slot, cool enough to get tapped, and strong enough to deliver is small.
Alanis Morissette has a Nashville date in the summer. Which is June the twenty third at the Bridgestone Arena and she can play at Coachella in this year.

If I’m some world Taylor was on the lineup, it would drop tomorrow or tonight at midnight. That’s the only thing I can think of

Two guesses.
1. Coachella tried to take a swing at a bigger HL, like Taylor Swift or Rolling Stones, and just missed.
2. The artists are actually getting into a pissing contest about line up placement and font size.

They tried for a bigger headliner, obviously didn't work. Probably were working on stacking the undercard at the same time.

I can think of this was stated in multiple ways in the last 150 pages or so.
. Which would be a win/win for me.
