Literally all of my favorite sets haven’t been headliner sets. Maybe some people just experience Coachella different ways 🤷♂️
Of course, but that might NOT be YOU who don’t care about the headliners!
The funny thing is the first year I went, I only cared about one headliner (who didn’t even perform by the time I got there) and went entirely because the undercard had so many artists I wanted to see. While obviously I’d love great headliners, I completely understand why people can say they don’t care and only care about the undercard because realistically the headliners are only three artists out of so many spread throughout a whole weekend
Folks sad about not getting Zach Bryan but don’t even go to Stagecoach. Posers.
I actually like their lineup this year. Have you ever been? If so, how is it?
I went in 2011 when Coachella sold out and I couldn't get tickets. Music was great, people were insufferable. Fucking AWFUL. I mean... I live in Indiana and it is like these people were trying sooo hard to be a redneck. IDK how to explain it. Rude as shit is what they were. I have never felt unsafe at Coachella alone but no way would I have gone anywhere solo at Stagecoach. Never again and I love country music.
Okay I'll say it: it's time for a Coachella cum leak, even if its just a dribble. GV can only give us blue balls so many times before someone blows a load so messy that it scrambles the lineup placements.
Funny thing is I did an All Our Ideas poll for the subreddit to ask who they'd like to see headline and Zach Bryan was dead last. People even voted Imagine Dragons over them.
Well they threw a fit finding out they declined Shakira so that's a shining cosign as far as I'm concerned

That's a bummer. I've heard similar things from people I know who have gone in the past. It's a shame because the polo fields could be such a cool setting for country music.

I would vastly prefer Zach Bryan over Doja, but to a certain extent GV is booking to the crowd. Doja/Lana/Tyler are all bigger draws with the SoCal Coachella crowd than Zach Bryan.
I see repeated references to "old coachella headliners" and "critical acclaim" and I feel like I must have imagined the Coldplay and Muse and KoL years.
Jack Johnson headlined off of banana pancakes and the Curious George album.
It's -50 outside today (That's Celsius, and I just learned when it gets cold enough Farhenheit curves back so that's -58 F folks). I was stupid enough to go get groceries and beer and my car is now stuck in some parking lot.
I could reaaallllly use a lineup right about now Paul

I’m a maintenance technician for a large company. They didn’t shut the building down until they realized people couldn’t make it in. Now the people who did show up are kind of stranded here. It’s a wild weather week for the northern half of the continent.

Coachella built its reputation by having a mix of legends and whatever's popular with the younger crowd at that particular time. I know the festival has been moving further away from that, but there's nothing interesting about these 3 acts in 2024.
2023 lineup was the perfect example of that mix, with a ton of rare acts for "old heads" and some of the most popular artists in the world. It would be unlikely they would go from booking Chem Bros, Gorillaz, Bjork, Underworld and Jai Paul to totally abandoning acts with that sort of crew.
And, Lana and Tyler have both been around for 10 years at this point. Having a deep catalogue and still appealing to young audiences feels great for a headliner.
The bigger problem with Tyler, IMO, is he self admittedly had a totally dead crowd in 2018. Even if most of that is due to Beyonce, I don't think his popularity has grown that much, and people going just for him seem more likely to go to his own annual festival.
Lana is more exclusive than people on here seem to think, this'll be her first So Cal show in five years.
Doja is a total miss, no exclusivity, played recently, and just blah.
To say that Tyler hasn't grown in popularity since 2018 is plain ignorant...

Only Paul and the Palm Desert can warm our literally icy hearts now

Coldplay, Muse, and Kings of Leon were all critically acclaimed pretty much until they headlined Coachella (KoL fell off after their first three albums, but those were all very well received). Not much defending Jack Johnson though, and it was seen as a joke at the time. Having Prince and Roger Waters as the other two made it much more palatable.
