This might be an unpopular opinion , but I think part of the draw in the Sonora is the ac. I saw multiple people in there last year that were simply trying to get relief from the heat. Had several ask me who was even playing in my time there. Honestly the only reason I caught Magdalena bay was because it was so damn hot outside and we needed shade/ac.
Okay I'll say it: it's time for a Coachella cum leak, even if its just a dribble. GV can only give us blue balls so many times before someone blows a load so messy that it scrambles the lineup placements.

Yeah. Weekend 2 was hot as balls and theres no damn way people were waiting in a line to see Scowl at 2pm.

Uncle Waffles doing this Friday last year was easily one of the best sets I saw either weekend. Hopefully we get Asake this year but there’s no way they’d slot him in the Sonora

Yeah he's on my wishlist this year but he's probably an Outdoor act. I missed Uncle Waffles due to conflicts but I think someone like Kabza de Small would be a great Sonora closer

Saw Magdalena Bay at This Ain’t No Picnic in 2022 and really enjoyed it. Was stoked to see them on the 2023 lineup but disappointed when they got placed in the Sonora; assumed they’d be in the Gobi or something. Did not bother trying to see them.
(Ethel Cain was also at This Ain’t No Picnic before ending up in the Sonora the following year.)

Ethel was amazing as well, yes. Didn’t know much about her but feedmenik convinced me to go watch with him, and I am glad he did.

You were complaining about how Coachella doesn't book enough special or unique acts anymore but your wishlist is pretty much entirely acts that are booked everywhere all the time and a couple of niche bass/glitch artists that simply aren't in Coachella's typical genre range and never have been.

Tried to see Magdalena Bay in the Sonora last year and it felt unsafe with how packed it was, no room to move at all, not even in the seated area. People were standing on the rails and whatnot
Magdalena Bay wasn’t that packed weekend 1 which I was happy about. Saw MUNA weekend 2 during that time
Which is weird because it definitely wasn’t too packed W2. There was a very sizable gap of space in the back between the crowd and the ramp up to the bar (where there was plenty of unobstructed-view standing room)
Coachella's 2nd line billing has always been a little wonky. You'll definitely see some artists top 3 on their day who could have been lower. Artists billed lower who should have been much higher, etc.
Example: A Boogie being billed over Metro Boomin, A Boogie should've been on the 4th line, Metro should've been top 4 on his day tbh, if not top 3.

A good friend of one of the people I went with was a dancer for Uncle Waffles and they ended up staying with us as well. That set was a lot of fun.
