lol it gets better - Mumford and Sons teasing new stuff Tuesday
RTTD: Mumford and Sons for the win. J/K...but they did but on a solid show back in 2011 the Main Stage. Or if could have just been my first year at Coachella, the excitement and all...yeah i'll go with that.
what rockstars have gotten divorced recently. that’s pretty much a sure fire sign that they’ll be involved in a reunion soon as recent history as shown.
Can someone ask the old lady from Egypt what she thinks of Lana Del Rey headlining Coachella so we can know whether the festival has redeemed its reputation as a laughingstock worldwide

having only gone to coachella post-pandemic feels like paris-syndrome. seems like all of the things that made me want to go in the first place are gone / fading out. lineup used to be groundbreaking up&coming artists and tbh last few years feels like it’s either for normies who listen to radio or old heads on reddit wanting to see repeat acts. like damn what happened to all the acts for people who mainly listen to new (but not corny & mainstream) artists.
You're just aging
I’m only 23 lol so my perspective isn’t as nostalgic but more just comparing to the recent years pre-pandemic. I mean yeah the lineup is still miles ahead of any US festival, but even as someone with a pretty diverse music taste it seems like there was a shift in quality. Neither 2022 or 2023 have had better lineups than 2020 or 2019 imo which is pretty sad. Not tryna be a hater bc I’ll still go this year and have fun but I’m sure i’m not the only one that’s noticed this.
2020 lineup was so ahead of its time that the standout acts just on that undercard have recently been sub-headling (and even headlining now) for the last 2 years with the new undercards being considerably weaker. Just seems like Coachella’s ability to book exclusive acts from top to bottom of the lineup has dwindled, probably just due to the state of the music industry after the pandemic.

I'm too lazy to look all of them up but I feel like last year had a ton of exclusive acts.

Pretty much all of the 2020 lineup has either played in 22 or 23.

yeah that’s my point tho. they were stellar undercard bookings under already great headlining / sub headlining artists. 2 years later they got bumped up to sub-headliner / headliner with a much weaker undercard.
She didnt even headline Lovers and Friends last year.
Somebody post the credibility copy pasta statement again.
You're perfect 💯, you're beautiful 👰, you look 👀 like Linda Evangelista 💃.. You're a model 💋 💅. Everything 🔁 about you ☞ is perfect 💯! Did you stone 💎 those tights 👢 ? Oh, you're smiling 👱 ! I don't always agree 100% with his takes but I usually find King Vamp to be a credible and important Inforoo voice on zoomer culture.
There's at least more nuance and provocation then people citing streaming #s.
Have you been paying attention to his takes in this thread? Credible is not the word I would use lol
Which ones specifically? I don't see or agree with all of them, but I welcome a little of irreverence on sacred cows if it's coming from the right place.
Last year the Sonora hit capacity several times because they did such a good job with booking up and coming artists.
Compare the TV Girl and Ethel Cain billing spots from Coachella last year to Bonnaroo this year
I would argue that they put the wrong artists in there which made it have long lines. Ethel Cain and Tv Girl couldve been in the Mojave. Coupled with the fact that Sonora was finally on the live stream and a lot of people figured out it they were missing out. I think it just came with them not being able to find space for those acts in the other tents so they had to compromise. Like even on set times predictions nobody was putting them in there.

Knocked Loose in Sonora was a chaotic fight for my life in all the best ways and the year before Viagra Boys put on one of my favorite Coachella sets for any stage. Sonora is way better than people give it credit for

Well Sonora is booked separately from the rest of the fest, unless something has changed recently. So it's hard to put them elsewhere when the artists are specifically booked to play the Sonora

The problem for you is that it’s not the future yet. Come back to the lineups in a few years and your perspective will be similar to what you feel about the posters of yesteryear.
For every person that retrospectively looks at past posters and wishes todays lineups were that stacked, there is a person that lives in the present and discovers acts that then become big in the future. Be a present person and not a past person.

I feel like I’m relatively alone in thinking John Williams wouldn’t work at Coachella at all. Obviously brilliant music but not the right vibe or what they’ve gone for with the orchestral music.

Last year uncle waffles and nia archives were in the Sonora. Do you think they were booked along with all the other Indy rock groups that played there or did they end up there?
Okay I'll say it: it's time for a Coachella cum leak, even if its just a dribble. GV can only give us blue balls so many times before someone blows a load so messy that it scrambles the lineup placements.

Yes and it was a genius move. It was originally a stage that focused on lesser known Latin acts, but like the rest of Coachella, it's evolving with the landscape
