Feel like Lana could headline. It's not because Coachella started to focus on booking blockbuster pop stars that 'regular' artists can't headline anymore.
Don't think Carti could, simply because his headlining set would be like an hour max at best lol. Think he would sub tho, he's to massive for the Sahara I think.

Yeah, thats why i'm asking, thinking more and more they could go for LDR. She never did the numbers she just did in Europe, 65k in London, sold 17k in Amsterdam in 3 minutes for a show announced only a week before. Her streaming numbers are wild.
Will be 5 years since she last played LA next year. Looks like she's not interested in regular touring anymore, just small runs, one offs etc. So if she gives GV Coachella as her only Cali shows in 2024., it makes sense.
Lana and J Cole are the same tier of "big enough to headline but just not an exciting booking by Coachella's line up expectations"
But, then again, after each of the past 3.. 4 line ups have had issues with headliners staying on schedule to play, maybe they go for safe bookings for 2024 lol

We’re really not that far removed from Tame Impala headlining. Some of y’all need to chill with this “they need to be galactic superstars to headline Coachella” shit

Swedish House Mafia headlined Coachella last year
With The Weeknd though and the festival went out their way to not bill them as a headliner in the initial poster.

disagree, if they weren’t a headliner they wouldn’t have been seperated out like that. Coachella bet on their comeback being big and that failed spectacularly. they booked stadium shows, which got downgraded to arenas, which then got cancelled

Unless they can sell out 5 stadium dates in the same city, they can’t headline.

I don’t think *everyone* needs to be a galactic superstar but she’s literally the #2 act on her day at smaller festivals in the United States this year and hasn’t done an arena tour. It’s weird to me anyone thinks she’s a headliner.

I still think 2 nights minimum at arenas in the LA area is a minimum for Coachella headliner. Thing is, these artists are probably capable of doing that now.
Tame Impala - Did 2 Kia Forum shows after Coachella
Tyler, the Creator - Did only 1 Crypto.com Arena show last two but, could do 2 now, maybe
Lana Del Rey - Did 1 Hollywood Bowl show in 2019 but is definitely bigger now and likely could do at least 2 arena shows. Yes she's not top billed at other festivals but people may have been underestimating her draw. Promoters get shit wrong sometimes. I mean, Coachella originally thought Swedish House Mafia could headline Coachella by themselves lol. Lana made a fuss about not being billed as a headliner at Glastonbury and she may have been right.
Plus, getting three stadium acts every year is probably unrealistic. We can't expect all slots to be filled with artists like Bad Bunny or Harry Styles every year. Tame and Childish Gambino could do it (and did), Tyler and Lana probably could too and hell, if someone like Fred again.. can sell out 8 Shrine shows instantly (≈ 40,000 people), there's an argument that can be made that even he could headline Coachella next time around too.

But throw in the current crop of Kpop acts selling out stadiums and then what do you do. Then again Lolla is the only other fest thats dipping into headlining kpop acts anyway. I dont think they would even try another one outside of BTS now anyway. And that is supposedly "too big".

Tyler’s LA arena date sold out so fast and the only reason he didn’t do 2 is cause of the Amazon stream I presumed. Same with Steve Lacy at the Greek who could easily did 2 nights but was streamed on Amazon too
