Yeah that sounds like charity or popping out for an old friend
This doesn't preclude festivals though. Paul Simon was retired when he played Outside Lands, and did that gig entirely for charity (donated his entire fee). Elton could play Coachella, or more likely a Desert Trip type show in the same way, not that I'm expecting either.
If they really did book Kylie Minogue where would she even play? That set would be incredible no matter where they put it.
Well what is her billing. Is she subbing or just on the first line somewhere? Lets say she was on the Rage day then thats def closing Sahara and easily a 75+ min set. They prob would still keep Outdoor quiet during a headliner. If they wanted the maximum party then she subs under Dua and nobody leaves main stage not dripping in sweat from so much dancing.

Looks like Kylie its a Vegas residency at a new venue inside Venetian for Kylie. Rumors that came out today are saying it'll start in late October and it'll be a new club-like venue that Venetian is debuting,
Playboi Carti fall arena tour so I assume album soon
headliner or bust so I would assume bust
I don't think an arena tour means headliner or bust these days, especially if it's just one night in LA. Last year we had a ton of non-headliner arena acts -- Gorillaz, Bjork, Burna Boy. Shit, Diljit Dosanjh played arenas (though that's obviously not the same).

Not sure if that impacts her odds for Coachella.
Just read the article. Its a 1,000 capacity club so it isnt really a full on big vegas show. Unless she is going to have some dates at the Sphere eventually? It will be date dependent pretty much.

I think this sets playboi up to sub, personally.
Yeah I agree. At this point coachella headliners are mostly Stadium level acts
And depending on the set up youre not really playing to that many people in an arena. Even MSG with ga floor only gets you 13k sold out. If youre playing MLS stadiums then that might be the new "minimum" per say.
Jack Harlow (not headliner) Uzi (not headliner) Carti (not headliner) Lil Baby (not headliner)
ya except the first two arent doing arenas and lil baby sold like shit with a large opener in kid laroi.
What are you talking about? Uzi’s tour is an arena tour. Jack Harlow’s last tour was an arena tour in all major cities besides Detroit, Boston, Miami and like one other. But all the other cities were arenas.

hes playin like 4 arenas in a 20 date tour. Harlow did something similar
Everyone figured out that you can flex arena capacity down to less than half of it's max seating and they can "sell out" an arena on paper. The Forum capacity can be flexed down to just a bit larger than The Shrine. So really you can have one artist playing to 8k and another to 20k in the same arena, but on paper both sold them out.

Reduced capacity or not, doing only one arena show doesn't really cut it for Coachella headliners anymore. Being capable of doing multiple arena shows in the LA area is pretty much the minimum now to be considered big enough to headline Coachella.
That's partly why I'm not sure Tyler is big enough to headline Coachella since his last tour only had one show at Crypto for his LA run.

ya which is why a full arena tour is what an arena act actually means

This is less for saying you sold out and more for not having awkwardly large spaces of no people. If demand increases, it’s relatively easy to release more seats.
Also good to keep in mind that most markets don’t have non-arena venues above 5,000 cap. If you can reliably sell 10k tix a market, there’s not a venue that really makes sense for you outside of down-scaling an arena to the lower levels. Playing multiple shows is an option but creates twice the work

But Frank got the nod without even meeting that minimum criteria. Just on rarity and nothing else.

Because promoters aren't dipshits and know Frank could easily do multiple arena dates in LA if he wanted to.
