Blondie also has more recognizable songs than Talking Heads
ehh idk id say their top 4 is pretty even
Yeah I disagree. I think Heart of Glass, Call Me and One Way Or Another are more recognizable than Psycho Killer, This Must Be the Place, Once in a Lifetime. Idk Talking Heads biggest song tbh.

adding tide is high and burning down the house (which might be the biggest TH song for normies)
you're probably right but I don't think it's a big gap, most people have probably heard those 4 THs songs in some capacity.

time has improved the appreciation for a lot of Talking Heads songs, but strictly from a sales/chart perspective it's "Burning Down the House".

Psycho killer is the most streamed on Spotify of the songs mentioned by either Blondie or TH, probably because the PPPP cover isn't available on Spotify.
also I'd argue that Blondie probably has more generally recognized songs than The White Stripes, but if Jack and Meg got back together again this year they'd certainly headline, too. If Talking Heads reunited 25 years ago like Blondie did then yes I would also agree they probably would not headline.
If the Talking Heads played in a tent at 7:30 like Blondie did, they'd get a huge crowd as well. I don't see them as a headliner in 2024, though.
I can understand concerns about crowd size but if he can swing it Paul Toilet is not going to spend multiple millions of dollars to get one of the most impossible seeming band reunions ever to play the Mojave.
I was trying to say that just because Blondie drew a big crowd at the Mojave doesn't mean the TH would draw a big crowd headlining the main stage.
I guess if the TH only played a one-off reunion at Coachella for multiple millions of dollars and no other shows, it could be worth it for Paul's ego/bucket list, but I'd think that if they got back together, it would be for a tour and not one show, which would make it less special and it's hard to imagine today's core Coachella demo flocking to see a band that hasn't put out a record or toured in 40 years unless there is that TikTok breakthrough I'm not aware of.
I feel like it would be a big miss to not get Lana again.
she outdrew foo fighters at OSL yet people on here still claim she can’t headline
she was underbilled on festival bills leading to people really underestimating her ability to draw massive crowds
I mean, there are plenty of cases of non-headliners drawing bigger crowds than headliners at festivals. That doesn’t make her a headliner; if she announces a tour, that might. It’d be revealing either way.

When you dont play that many shows it tends to make people want to see an artist. Less is more. You think if Lana did a full out 40 date arena/amp tour that they would all sell out? Probably not.

If they were to get back together, I feel like they'd much rather do a one-off at something like Coachella (and maybe one show in NY announced afterwards) rather than a full tour.

And let’s not forget the YouTube stream too, which is sorta an event in itself. While they wouldn’t pull the biggest crowd on the fields, I’m think a TON of people would watch online.

Talking Heads would probably be one of the least attended headline sets in the history of the festival, but still behind The Stone Roses. Nobody will ever come close to that, there was simply NO ONE for that set. Crazy.
Still, if PT goes out and gets them, he will put them as headliners for sure.
On the Lana topic, what I have been saying here for months, if she plays, she will headline. All the festivals this year that had her, underbilled her. She had the same crowd or bigger than RHCP in Chicago, outdrew Foos in SF. Just sold 100,000 tickets in Mexico City etc. She just grew ridiculously in the past 4-5 years, hasnt played live, and put out some great records in the meantime.

They’re an iconic band with fun songs, don’t think the crowd will be an issue. If some people don’t know them it would take 30 seconds of looking them up to be like “oh yeah this is cool”
Also kind of funny that this article was the first result when I was trying to figure out why you all were talking about them playing Coachella

Yeah going back to the beginning of this whole conversation, there’s obviously a lot of steps that would need to happen before Talking Heads performed together again, but them getting together for the TIFF Q&A isn’t *that* extraordinary. IMO what still is weird is David Byrne talking extensively about how he regrets the breakup of the band in People magazine lol.

I love the stream so much, they even had cool stream merch for it that said Couchella with the bad bunny logo. I really wanna go this year but will be in the middle of wedding planning for me and Ms vamp. Maybe I can have my bachelor party there or at Roo lmao

I'd argue getting them together in the same room in public for the first time in over 20 years is pretty extraordinary.
