Don't give me hope. D'Angelo hasn't dropped in almost 9 years 😭 Unfortunately I don't think he'd pull a big crowd at Coachella, but I'd love him being there regardless. Hopefully playing LA local to catch him in a better setting
Coachella is the better setting. He would play tent at night to a crowd that would be psyched (think Jai Paul this year). If he just does an LA date it will be the Hollywood Bowl on a Wednesday to a seated crowd.
D'Angelo with Orchestra on the weekend. You funny. Kcrw's ears are burning after that comment.
I want to know who our equivalents to Jupiter & Okwess and The Comet Is Coming are this year. I want to know who the cool international acts are. I want to know if the Yuma is going to be halfway decent or not this year (in b4 “it won’t be”). I was to know if Jessie Ware is no longer too disappointed at the moment to play Coachella again. If Zach Bryan plays I almost certainly won’t see him so I don’t know why I bothered giving a fuck in the first place!!! Is SebastiAn going to play against that motherfucker in the Gobi or what??
Hi sir, do you have a moment to talk about Zach Bryan?
Last did some shows in Paris about 5 years ago. But the fact that Pitchfork almost got him is reason enough to believe it's still a possiblity. Supposedly a ton of songs are already recorded for his new album, if that ever sees the light of day.
Don’t think those Paris shows actually happened, if you’re going off Songkick
Ah, I missed that his tour was cancelled that year. Though I forgot he also did a full set on Verzuz in 2021. Regardless, he's always been on my wishlist and the fact that Pitchfork was somewhat close to getting him gives me some hope.
Do you hate Morgan Wallen more cause he is country and other things?
Zach posted a video explaining what happened. Lines up with the obstruction of investigation thing. He didnt want to give the the cop his info so they took him in.
D'Angelo cancelled his Orlando show nearly 10 years ago and hasn't played live since. Dope song in Red Dead Redemption 2, though

Wow, had no idea he had played live again. He and the Vanguard still ranks as among my top three concerts of all time
Didn’t someone leak the entire Pitchfork lineup this year and the only mistake was D’Angelo instead of Bon Iver? Obviously Coachella dropped a bag to get him instead.

Jai paul had a super packed crowd. Elusiveness counts for a lot.

But strangely he cant sell out the 2 la shows cause the restrictions and price point turned people off.
What restrictions? Also him not putting out new music surely hurts
They did the fair axs ticketing which is their version of verified fan. Tickets are not transferable and id must be shown at the door. Price point turned lots of people off cause it was 50% in fees for some reason. They ended up emailing people who did not get the initial code for the sale to buy tickets and that made no difference. Now the show is just available without a code and such and not even close to sold out either night. Its understandable to do some of it but seems that this was the wrong artist to do it with cause you werent getting as many casual people to go to these shows.

I don't think a Mojave crowd relfects the legend that is D'Angelo. Very confident that he'd sell out multiple nights at the Bowl. It's not just that he's rare, he's rare and a legend. I'd rather not see him be put in a tent at Coachella, and I think his crowd would be relatively small for an outside stage.
Coachella isn't on the radar for his core fan base. I'm in my late 20s and only grew up on him because of the adults in my life. His average fan is probably between 40-60 lol and I know legacy acts can pull a big crowd at Coachella but R&B isn't as casually popular as pop or rock or even hiphop.
Don't get me wrong, I'd be ecstatic to see him at Coachella or anywhere. But the fan in me would rather see him play to his core fans where the energy would likely be better.
Is it normal for Stagecoach to book this many not country acts?
Depends on the year but its not that weird. Nobody really pays them any mind cause its Stagecoach and not Coachella. It was all laid out back in May by the person who books the fest. Read the whole thing and youll get some more insight.
"Baltin: Who's the dream artist now to bring into Stagecoach that hasn't done it? And wait, are we now going to start to see old country artists do Just Like Heaven?
Vee: I think a dream non-country artist to bring into Stagecoach would be Post Malone. I think he wears the suits, he wears those nudie suits and he's from Texas and he covers Sturgill Simpson songs. And I see him on his own entering into the space a lot organically and I know he'd love it. So I think that would be a dream artist for me to have at Stagecoach to do something fun. "
We're gonna get into the whole financial thing again? What somebody makes on tour isnt the same as a festival paycheck. How was Bad Bunny "too expensive" when he was pulling in $15 mil a show on his stadium leg last year.

It was a joke, you deviant.
I legitimately don’t think supre has the capacity to understand humor.
