Didn’t Mitski say she wasn’t gonna do Coachella after the AEG owner/LGBT controversy?
Yup. I believe she tweeted that and has since deleted the tweet though. And if she’s playing GV venues anyway then either she doesn’t care enough to hold up that boycott or she’s like the majority of people with that story, complaining about Coachella without realizing how many other places are AEG anyway.
She'd probably only agree to top 4-5-ish billing on her day and she's a sizably smaller draw than Phoebe and Boygenius that had that same slot and didn't draw massive crowds, so I'm not really sure either party wanted the other at this point.
Are there any examples of people actually flying great distance over night to do a Coachella show? Seems like it's speculated every year for certain acts to keep hope alive, but has it actually happened?

It’s not Coachella but I think the archetypal example is Jay-Z doing Isle of Wight and Bonnaroo on back to back days in 2010.

Agree on the draw, but I do feel like Coachella will book a handful of artists they consider to be "quality" live acts, even if they don't pull a big crowd.
2023 had acts like Chems, boygenius billed top 4 and didn't have large crowds. But are regarded as high quality live experiences.

No doubt, but there's a difference between a legendary Coachella act like the Chemical Brothers and someone who has made it clear she doesn't care for the festival

Gotye did SNL in NYC on Saturday and Sunday Coachella about 18 hours later. Probably got the NBC jet.

Artists used to fly in internationally the day before the fest but after the 2010 volcano happened they changed that up. I remember when Boys Noize flew from The Uk to La overnight for EDC a long whole ago.
The AIs and aliens are bored again! If Brian Eno is a possibility at Coachella 2024, we are plotting if we can extend our Seattle trip to also see Peter Gabriel. Legendary legacy acts> your mostly popular now but really just bunch of non-sense to be forgotten a few years later, GV/PT lmao. We were also hoping for more requests or discussions here of Sia or maybe even M.I.A. , Lykke Li , Kylie Minogue, Fever Ray, Cat Power, Warpaint or the likes busy plotting new materials/future tours - we don’t need to see (more) of twerkchella or mehchella or underwhelming meh live performers (aka Mitski, Anitta, Karol G & co. wasting sub-headlining slots or people here actually hoping for Miley Cyrus & co. - ENOUGH). We would be more excited for holograms or homage for Astrud Gilberto, Rita Lee, Gal Costa & co. or maybe even ABBA’s somewhere at this new Coachella. lol
Edited - UPCOMING SHOWS The Postal Service & Death Cab for Cuties Peter Gabriel

Interesting read from Sterogum posting about the actual low demand for the upcoming Travis Scott tour. Seems like a lot of scalpers are taking a huge bath on this tour right now as they were the ones purchasing huge quantities of the tickets.

I noticed this recently too. It shows Astroworld did seriously cut into his casual fanbase and his hardcore fans can't make up for it for this tour.
I think this has less to do with Astroworld and more with trying to sell expensive stadium tickets for a hip-hop artist. That audience historically doesn't shell out big bucks for shows compared to other genres. He should've stuck with smaller venues in some cities or made tickets cheaper. Pretty much the same shit that happened with the Swedish House Mafia tour, only this time dumb scalpers fell for it too.

I wonder what happened with Drake scrapping his stadium run and just deciding on multiple nights in arenas instead. That probably wouldve sold fine.
