i don't know who started this psyop of rihanna at coachella but isn't she generally considered to be a mediocre performer?
You mean everything from back in dec and jan that pointed towards her being there until she got pregnant? They started talking to her about Coachella back in March of last year which was even before the NFL had brought up the halftime show performance. The LN tour and such was also going to be in play if things went according to plan which was play the festival then tour later in 2023 and do a tour similar to Harry Styles where you just do a mini residency in major cities.
Would be surprised if she was ready by April but I'm all for it
Beyonce had twins in early summer of 2017 and then did Coachella the next year. Rihanna had her kid in Aug and is 5 years younger then when Bey did. Its still doable. Hell, Maren Morris went back out to perform barely 2 months after she had a kid.

See a lot of talk about SZA show being bad, saw her recently, great great show. Way better than Rihanna, who I saw 2-3 times live in the past.
I think its very hard to persuade someone like Ri now to do regular worldwide touring. She makes more money from other ventures outside of music, is a mother of 2 now, generally doesnt like performing live etc.
If she does tour again, I do believe it will be a few mega fests as tour launch, image thing, and then some big market residencies like Harry.

id take bieber or sza over rihanna at coachella any day
Don't think she'd be any worse than BLACKPINK (who was fun but not necessarily good on a technical level of choreo and live vocals), and she'd definitely do better than Frank Ocean by default.
I don't think her fan base expects a Beyonce level show. Tons of people would be happy just being able to see her and her hits.

Yeah. Like Rihanna is in rarified air to have 14 number 1's. So 80% of a set from her would be hits which would be absurd.
I honestly think Lana is bigger than Tyler right now.
I would agree that Lana del Rey is probably a headliner but for whatever reason festivals this year seemed absolutely allergic to doing that so for now I am following suit.
I feel like I hemmed and hawed a lot to myself while making it just to include like half the artists I had on my last one lol.
I would think Jorja, Troye, and Peggy Gou would all be on the second line if booked. I could very much see JungKook being booked, but isn't he due for military service next year? Hildur would be a really cool booking. Also who is Our House?

BigHit has said Jungkook, RM, Jimin, and V are going to announce their military enlistment plans "by the end of the year" but haven't said when. I mostly just picked Jungkook because when I was researching this iteration I learned just that "Seven" is massively putting up streaming numbers, more so than Jimin's song that also went #1 in the US this year. Also, Our House is James Hype and MEDUZA.
I honestly think Lana is bigger than Tyler right now.
I'd also say Jung Kook is bigger than Kacey too. Not even sure she'd get sub but second line for sure.
Between Lana and RUFUS, I think it would make more sense to put her in the RTTD spot instead and just have RUFUS sub since she's arguably a headliner now and RUFUS isn't.
David Kushner seems too high. Feels like he's the Stephen Sanchez of 2023, one big hit that will fizzle away. Few other billing changes I'd make but otherwise pretty good. I feel like it's missing a big unexpected booking though like we had with Gorillaz, Bjork, Jai Paul or Underworld. I'd be cool with those headliners but that trio would probably get roasted the hardest than any previous headliners.

I more or less agree Jungkook is bigger than Kacey, but the reason I didn't have him sub is mostly because he only has 3 solo songs right now. I'm hesitant to include any non-electronic artist in any RTTD spot just because we've had it happen twice and both times were electronic artists. It's funny you bring up David Kushner because on my first mock I had Stephen Sanchez on the second line but he didn't really fit this time. I disagree he's fizzling out - he's selling out multiple nights at big clubs around the country, but I wanted at least one act like Stephen Sanchez/Noah Kahan since people seem to be really into that right now. finally, as for no unexpected bookings - c'mon, you won't give me the Op Ivy reunion, Bo Burnham's first performance since Inside blew up, or the woman who did the music for Tár?

Kinda like this. Think Gracie Abrams is bigger than her billing here. And guess Lana will not accept anything below headliner. Yes she did sub on some fests this summer, but those shows were booked too early, and while playing those and on her tour recently it just showed how huge she is now. Plus all those shows were actually great, she is a very very strong performer now, something she definitely wasnt in the past. And it seems she likes playing live now, there is some confidence there, while in the past she mostly ran away from doing bigger number of shows. Think she either headlines of does her own thing in LA, a run of 4 Hollywood Bowls or something.
I don't think Lana is bigger than Tyler, they're probably around the same tier. But Tyler has more musical momentum right now. Every album since Flower Boy has progressively put Tyler in a space that most people didn't think was possible for his career. (I remember the board consensus of "Tyler would never reach headliner level"). Not to mention, his live show is way better than Lana's.
