So, it seems like the prodigal son is returning to the music world. I hope that Boston Calling is broad enough to include progressive hip hop in its lineup next year, because whether as the third headliner, or a Blue stage closer, this would be an amazing booking and somewhat-but-not-quite make up for seemingly being the only festival to not book the 2014 reunion tour.
Given that this release contains no rap verses or any lyrics at all, I'm good with not having Andre 3000 at BC next year.
If you want progressive hip-hop, give me Busdriver, Aesop Rock, Oddisee, Shabazz Palaces or Open Mike Eagle.
Would an hour of instrumental flute music followed by Ms. Jackson, Roses, and Hey Ya, followed by more flute music, really be so bad?

after the RE:set disaster over the summer and IDLES having that last minute Sinclair show that only fit about 1/4 of the people who showed up, I think you can bump them up to "Strong Possibility"

Chris Stapleton might be out because he’ll be playing at some country music festivals.

you're probably right, but i think all of the names on that list are based on artists having announced dates/tours with suspiciously no Boston show. Idles has no US dates announced next year and really no tour dates at all past late March, so who knows if they'll even be around

My reasoning for putting them in the Maybe section is both because of the RE:Set/Sinclair issues as well as a new album in February and no US dates announced yet. They would be perfect for BC and have not shied away from doing festivals. I assume that the US leg of their tour would be April - early June, so that would most likely take them out of playing In Between Days in August and in contention for BC.
With or without the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles as backup dancers, it's about time that they played Boston Calling. They'd be a perfect Red closer. What's not to like about a shot of New Jack Swing right before the emotional intensity of Hozier?

With Shaky Knees lineup dropping tomorrow or Wednesday, we should have an idea of a few acts given past cross-over and that they are both now owned by C3.

Basically the only reason I've been anticipating the Shaky announcement so much lol
