it's not as much of a clear conclusion to make as Tyler Childers, given that he's actively in the area MDW and this FOB tour ends like 7 weeks before MDW... but yeah, i wouldn't rule them out. honestly i'd MUCH rather get Jimmy Eat World and Hot Mulligan than FOB, but all 3 wouldn't bother me either.
True and agree with Jimmy Eat World vs FOB, especially since I had to sell my tix to their recent show with Manchester Orchestra.
nothing about that FOB tour indicates they must be playing BC to me, tours skip New England all the time
They're huge in Boston, no idea why they wouldn't play a second time
i mean that's fine and all, but it's really silly to look at a band that ends their tour entirely almost two months prior and be like "oh yeah they're playing." especially if that band just played the area this year.

Fair. Afaik the only BC headliner whose spring US tour left out boston without an obvious memorial day weekend gap + they played boston the previous year was Travis Scott 2019, but I also think there's a bit of wishful thinking among all of us that we won't get fall out boy here lmao
Edit: Olivia Rodrigo would be like 800% better

With the big country names on tour I wish Sturgill Simpson had plans, was gonna see him in 2020 (with Tyler Childers opening!) But yknow
i think Sturgill's only sang twice since he ruptured his vocal cords. once for willie nelson's birthday and another time just randomly at a nashville bar. pretty sure he's gone on record a few times saying he hates touring and doesn't want to do sturgill simpson anymore and wants to do stuff in bands.

I like FOB a whole lot, but when I saw them at the Garden in 2018 (I think it was 2018) I was convinced that much of what they "played" was prerecorded. When they were on an elevated B-stage towards the back, I could clearly see that what they were playing on their instruments and what came out of the PA wasn't synced.

We can't forget The Killers, who headlined Boston Calling four months after they played TD Garden. Of course, we don't know whether the LiveNation team is as inclined to book a headliner so soon after a big local show as was the MSG crew, so who knows?
Yeah Yeah Yeahs might be out, MGM Music Hall 11/06. Feel like they wouldn't do a makeup show elsewhere if they planned to do the fest next year
Agreed. They're also doing Philly on 11/8, which I plan to attend. They were the biggest "miss" of my festival year, and I'll be happy to resolve that disappointment in 2023, and clear my hopes/expectations for Spring '24.
More bands should book shows in Providence in general, nightlife there clears Boston nightlife easily
Apparently, the MBTA commuter rail just added later service on all/some lines. I know that they've got late runs from Boston outbound, but I'm hoping that they do the same for inbound. That could open up Lowell, Providence, and Worcester shows for me.
A few more undercard acts that, unfortunately, won't be at BC in 2024:
Chelsea Wolfe - I think she fits on the line of maybe/maybe not BC type of act, but she will be in Boston in March, so regardless - out Young Fathers - I'd love for them to be on the bill, but at the Sinclair in April.
Looking at artists that have just released albums or are releasing during the last quarter of the year who may fit the BC bill and I'd love to see:
Mitski 2 nights at MGM Music Hall in February. Nation of Language Animal Collective Blonde Redhead Cherry Glazerr Sinclair in March Jorja Smith Sufjan Stevens (one can dream) Metric *Crosses* House of Blues in February Drop Nineteens Paradise in April Aesop Rock (dreaming again)

MSG booked a handful of acts at BC fairly soon after they played Boston, but this will be the first year that LiveNation is handling all of the booking, so past Harvard editions are meaningless in figuring out next year's lineup.
If someone had the time and inclination, looking at the last two Shaky Knees lineups and entering top and second line names into setlist.fm with "Atlanta" might provide some indication of what sort of lag time since an artist's most recent local date LiveNation prefers.
Adding to the list of bands/artists that would've been perfect for Boston Calling and have somehow never played it before, but now have an early 2024 Boston date announced so they're out: Two Door Cinema Club, Joywave, Arlo Parks

Funny that you should mention Two Door Cinema Club and Joywave. Two Door just announced a 2024 tour, with Joywave opening. In Boston in February. So, unfortunately, out.
