I registered for tickets last night and am probably going to spend the next 3 months reading arguments on eFests on whether or not Coldplay is good. We’re back!

The threat of Coldplay always makes for good reading.

To be honest though the anxiety of getting/not getting tickets kind of hampers any of my excitement about lineup speculation until the onsale happens. What I always thought was more intriguing was the schedule speculation. That or I’d honestly be ok with any of the suggested headliner names so far (even Coldplay though I get why the people who have been going forever would be less than thrilled with that).

If its your turn its your turn. If it was a festival that you could get a ticket for with relative ease then it likely would be even more frustrating for attendees to have Coldplay yet again. I dont know what theyre going to do whenever Coldplay and The Chemical Brothers call it quits. And theres plenty that are pro Coldplay simply based on the economics. Cause theyll play for no money and then it helps them pay somebody else. Like this is who they get Madonna cause they can give her an extra million now.
I'm thinking about going next year, but Coldplay / Dua / Madonna doesn't do it for me (assuming it is them). I've been 4 times, so I am well aware that there's plenty of counter programming during the headliners, but this would be the first time that I have no excitement for any of the headliners, which is a bummer. In previous years that I went....
2013 Arctic Monkeys - excited and didn't even see them - couldn't say no to Portishead Rolling Stones - excited and saw them of course (lined up all day to be on the rail) Mumford & Sons - wasn't excited, saw The XX instead
2017 Radiohead - hell yea Foo Fighters - moderately enthused but they blew away my expectations. best show of theirs i've seen by far. crowd was WILD. Ed Sheeran - meh
2019 Stormzy - meh The Killers - love The Killers, and just like Foo Fighters in 2017, this was the best show and crowd of theirs i've seen The Cure - excited to see them, put on a good show
2022 Billie Eilish - moderately excited, put on a fine show Paul McCartney - hell yea. can say i've seen the Beatles (sorta) and Stones at Glasto now Kendrick - wanted to see him but got dragged to Charli XCX instead

Yeah if I'd been going for several years Coldplay would probably be a stale booking. They're fine for me.
Need to give Future Nostalgia another listen. Was never able to get into it.

I still like the whole album but you can just get the best bits by queueing up Don’t Start Now/Cool/Physical/Levitating/Hallucinate/Break My Heart back to back

Don't Start Now - Absolute banger.
Cool - Also enjoyed this a lot. Keep 'em coming.
Physical - Eh. It's fine.
Levitating - Good song but didn't enjoy it as much as the first two.
Hallucinate - Loved this from the jump. Made me want to dance.
Break My Heart - Good not great.
I liked this more than I did previous listens. Interested to hear the new album.

So, our group is thinking about trying for tickets for 2024. We went in 22 but skipped this year. Scanning the efest board, it looks like See/Glasto made some changes to the purchasing process for the 23 resale earlier in the year.....that they may or may not use for this year's sale. The only reference that I found to 23 resale process changes indicated that they separated the payment process from the actual resale process i.e. they mailed you confirmation of your tickets during resale and then you had 24 hours to actually purchase the tickets using a secondary link.
Does anybody know if that is accurate and/or if there were other process changes introduced in this year's resale?

Thats accurate. They wanted to save themselves the trouble they had for the 22 regular sale cause a ton of people had purchases made and then were shown there was an error and their tickets werent valid. The one thing that kind of sucks is tbat you are less likely to encounter random ticket drops during the sale because nobody is going to get a rejected payment screen. So a sell out could happen in 20 mins now if their servers hold up.

Ahead of the first show, Madonna’s musical director Stuart Price spoke to BBC News about what fans can expect. He described the run of dates as “a documentary through her vast career”, which will showcase more than 40 songs from the star’s back catalogue.
“A greatest hit doesn’t have to be a song. It can be a wardrobe, it can be a video, or a statement,” explained Price, who produced Madonna’s 2005 album ‘Confessions On A Dance Floor’.
The ‘Celebration Tour’ will use the singer’s original multi-track recordings, and Madonna won’t be joined by a live band onstage for the first time since the start of her career.
“There are live musicians that perform at different parts of the show,” Price said. “But what we realised is that the original recordings are our stars. Those things can’t be replicated and can’t be recreated, so we decided just to embrace that.”

So she is going to sort of lip sync but not really lip sync but make people think she is cause theres no live band. And the production is gonna be bonkers cause theres no band to factor into it.
Do we believe the person in the Coachella thread that said Dua Lipa is confirmed for this?
Eavis said earlier this year that they had one female headliner who hadn’t played before locked in for 24, and would maybe get two. Madonna and Dua basically the only real options that fit. Don’t know if that person knows anything or not, but I’m counting on Dua either way at this point.
