Still seems like TBA on Friday is still most likely Noah K.. I would give him 40% odds and nothing else rises above 10%.
In other words, Noah Kahan is the Kamala Harris of the Democratic nomination prediction markets.
Fest can’t afford to book a guy that’s just gonna flake.
I mean if guy takes a significant pay cut to play to make up for being sick. TBA means it doesn’t matter if he flakes or not. Heck, the TBA could have actually switched a dozen times and we wouldn’t know.

I'm admittedly a lurker on this board - perhaps shamefully so (so please treat me kindly in that regard). But thought I would weigh in with my two cents on the various points of speculation from recent weeks. Purely conjectural and not based on any particular inside information, but I have been attending Newport Folk since the Apple & Eve/Dunkin Donuts/Ben & Jerry's eras (and every year since 2012), and have a pretty good sense of how things roll.
Friday's mystery quad set - This slot was deliberately omitted during the lineup roll-out, and as many have noted, it is likely one of two things - a radius clause issue or the case of an enigmatic artist who likes to keep people guessing what they will do next (e.g. Sturgill, Jack White). Additionally, the 45-minute slot makes it hard for me to believe this is a full-band affair -- it is far more likely to be a solo set or something with minor accompaniment and (maybe) guest collaborators. Yes, Noah Kahan remains a possibility (not my jam, but would make some people happy), but there are far more interesting prospects -- I am personally holding out hope for Sturgill, but not sure how likely that is. In the radius clause camp, there are at least two viable possibilities that I haven't seen mentioned -- Kacey Musgraves (I found her prior appearance at the Fort a bit vanilla, but love the new album and a solo set from her would hit home for me) and a stripped down "unplugged" set from The National (maybe w/ Lucius).
Gillian & Dave - Yes, there will be stuff from the upcoming album - and like some others on this board, I think they are a great Fort stage closer and would be quite happy with whatever they do. But Gillian in particular has such a huge cadre of admirers that it is hard to imagine this not involving other artists who just want to share the stage with her. I expect something akin to the 2017 John Prine -- a set of classic songs (and some new ones) with some memorable guest appearances.
Conan set guests - The Jacks (White and Black) remain obvious suspects (perhaps the latter less so, given recent events), but they are almost too obvious. I have a sense that there will be at least one big name guest coming from out of left field -- very likely someone from the pop world. I will stay away from the interminable speculation about T. Swift, Springsteen, Neil, etc. and set those aside - but here are a few who I can see on the Newport Folk stage with Conan: Billie Eilish (tour starting in September), Childish Gambino (tour starting in August), Olivia Rodrigo (unlikely, but could conceivably wedge into her tour schedule), Lady Gaga, and (admittedly a major long-shot) Beyonce (cue the "no f-ing way" comments).
Billy Strings - Hard to imagine he won't be in the house on Sunday - the tough part may be figuring out where and when he is going to pop up. By far the most painful conflict for me this weekend is the Cory Wong-Sierra Ferrell overlap. I don't want to miss a second of either set, and can see Billy hitting them both...and with Mighty Poplar closing out the Harbor.
Genuinely deranged and unhinged post. You belong on a watchlist

Last year there was an unofficial aftershow that I believe was essentially a warm up for the Folk Family revue or whatever it was called. I can’t remember what venue that was but has anyone checked to see if that venue is hosting anything unofficial again?

I’ve checked and nothing yet.
It was out on goat island I think the bar is called Pineapples still. I have not heard anything as of yet. Was down in that area last night. I hope something gets going there

Newport Harbor Island Resort. (Formerly Gurney’s) Pineapples the outside bar is still called Pineapples.
Jack keeps posting pictures of instruments. It’s alllllllmost like they’re rehearsing for something….
His bandmates have been posting as well.
Yep, it’s looking like a full set. I’m really thinking it’s the live debut of the new album in full. I’m hoping he brings along a couple copies of the record
"Noah Kahan is the Kamala Harris of the Democratic nomination prediction markets." - I wish I could buy shares of Noah Kahan being the TBA. Anyone want a friendly wager? I will take Noah Kahan against any 3 named alternatives. IE, you have to name three other artists and if any of them are the TBA you win. Stakes are a Lobster Roll or a beer. Only taking this bet once so first come first serve.

I’ll take that, for a beer.
Name your three. *** I really wish someone else had taken this because I know that Beaker is amazing at forecasting Newport sets. ***
