Will Ferrell Survivor - Round 1

Who TF is voting for the Spartan cheerleaders?!? It's like I don't even know y'all anymore.

That's me. I included it on the list because I know it's a beloved character and I always want to ensure survivor is fair and balanced.

I was a huge SNL nerd even in grade school and loved the early 90s cast. I was shocked at the clean sweep they did in 1995, notably the firing of Chris Farley and Adam Sandler. Then here are these new people I don't know doing sketches and I didn't like them. The Spartans sketch was the first sketch of the new cast to really catch fire, and everyone at school loved it, which made me hate it. It was my first taste of a new cast, and I did the kneejerk thing where I was like "SNL is dead now". of course over the years I learned that people leave and get fired but the show manages to always roll on and find new talent and keep being funny (IMO).

I don't hate the spartans sketch anymore, but it doesn't make me laugh, because of my resentment it just never rooted itself in my brain. Of course Will Ferrell ultimately went on to be one of my favorite cast members ever, and objectively one of the best.

I can't remember exactly when I warmed up to Will Ferrell. It might have been Harry Caray on WU. i had no frame of reference as to who Harry Caray was but it was so undeniably funny. "hey, if you were a hot dog, and you were starving, would you eat yourself? i know i would."

Wow, hating the hot tub pool lover? Have you all no heart or loins?

Right?! This can't be happening. 

first off I love SNL, you are a bad person, etc.

but for real this survivor was an idea that Vieux came up with, to do a survivor of one actor's characters. great idea, the problem is it's hard to find an actor who has 20 roles people will really know. like i feel like Bruce Willis has been a huge part of my life since i was a kid but I honestly don't think i've even watched 20 Bruce Willis movies?

but a sketch performer turned successful comic actor makes it easier, since you can choose a bunch of sketches and/or guest appearances on sitcoms. even with a sketch performer as popular as Will Ferrell I found myself digging at least moderately deep for "get off the shed" or "i drive a dodge stratus" guy. sketches i adore but maybe haven't had staying power outside of SNL nerds.

It’s very sweet to still think these folks won’t pick poorly in every draft on here.

The only reason that's my first pick is because it is the only one out of the 20 I have never experienced. I've only watched a handful of episodes of Eastbound and honestly didn't know Will Ferrell was in it at all.
