I'm flying in to 'roo. Do you think I would be fine just not bringing in any food or drink, or would I encounter huge lines and miss all the shows, and spend a fortune?
You'll be fine. The lines for food aren't really that long (~5-10 min at the longest), and the prices aren't bad. I bring a lot of food, but mainly b/c I dig grilling. Beer is reasonable in Centeroo, also available from folks in the tent city. Water is free (if sulfur tasting).
My first Roo 2 years ago, we brought tons of food with us. After the festival, we had a lot of food left over. The busy schedule of music and partying did not leave us much time to cook every day. Plus the vendor food was reasonable and very good. Last year I really cut back and only brought food for the first few days so we did not have that much towards the end and we ate every day in centerroo. Plus if you only bring so much food you dont have to worry about a lot of ice either.
If you're trying to travel light man, I'd toss in some granola bars and other backpack snacks. Like it has been pointed out already though, you can find just about all the food you can imagine between Centeroo and the various campground cuisine.
Think instant gratification - snacks are definitely the way to go. we brought food in the first year and only ended up eating the non-perishables. by the time you wake up in the morning it's too hot to do anything that involves additional heat. my recommendation is to bring some easy breakfast stuff: bagels, cream cheese, fruit, granola bars, etc. and other things that are easy to eat on the go. cut-up veggies and hummus are always a big hit. Plan on your cooler getting pretty warm by Saturday if you don't make a nearly constant effort to keep stuff iced-down. Something to consider if you're flying in...
I think that the vendors are pretty expensive, but supply and demand is a funny thing. I usually end up snacking at my tent in the morning and bringing a sandwich or snack with me into Centeroo. I have a hard time eating when it is so freaking hot, so I end up mostly just alternating between water and beers during the day. Once the sun goes down, I usually hit up one of the Centeroo vendors for a sizeable dinner - something to give me the energy to make it through the late night sets!

One word: Grilledcheeses.
As soon as I found out about the place selling 1 dollar grilled cheeses, I don't think I went anywhere else. I passed it on my way to centeroo...since I was out in BFE...But grilled cheeses are the way to go. But there was plenty of other food out there too for cheap.
*i like coconuts, you can break them open they smell like ladies lyin in the sun** *Hell I don't even know where I am** *for now I must sit here and ponder the yonder: The herbivores did well cause their food didn't never run** *We listen, if it feels good We shake** *You made a big impression for a girl of your size, Now I can't get by without you and your big brown eyes.**
Bring a camelpack or something to carry water in so you won't have to leave shows to drink. Staying hydrated is a BIG thing. Dehydration can easily ruin the whole weekend.
and they do have free water there so i wouldnt worry about lugging cases of water on the airplane or anything. If you really want bottled water, you can get it for really cheap. We never paid anything more than $1.00 for ice cold water outside of centeroo.

the granola bars are a good idea and could be easily packed and taken on a plane. your neighbors will feed you if it comes to that. i ALWAYS bring extra for neighbors. heres an idea - offer to go and get their ice for them - id be willing to bet that they will share water and food if you do that. the ice run is no fun at all. someone near me went on a beer run (a long hike somewhere outside of roos gates- we were in bfe) - he was set for the weekend after he did that. also, as said, you can get reasonable buys outside centeroo and i found the prices quite good inside as well.
