Ward Madeleine Peyroux
I'm definitely not dissappointed but a little less than blown away.
New to Bonnaroo acts I'm thrilled to see on the list: Modest Mouse and Ozomatli
Bands I've never heard that intrigue me because I know people on this board are into them: The Mars Volta, Iron and Wine, Secret Machines
I'm also thrilled to see ABB, Keller, STS9 and Karl Denson on the list.
Personally two nights of Widespread and DMB are not the ideal headliners for me but I will certainly enjoy both and I often end up napping for the midnight shows during that slot anyway.
Please give me some hip-hop this year (Lyrics Born, Gift of Gab, Lateef and the Chief)!
Not To shabby.. A lot of bands ive never heard of but its nice to see Keller is back and Bela's Acoustic Trio(anyone know the lineup of acoustic trio). DMB that blows that they wasted a headline slot for DMB but panic is nice. I guess we will have to wait and see the times before i say good or bad. Another UM Latenight would be the fire!
Agreed on Umphrey's: best surprise for me last year. Still holding out hope that the next round of announcements will blow me away; two night of WSP sound like one night of filler.
I think it's a pretty good lineup.....My morning Jacket, Keller, Umphreys, WSP, O.A.R, ABB.....really excited about Particle.......Does anyone have a scoop on THE DEAD or BEN HARPER??????????
Doubt we'll see The Dead there this year... they'd definitley take a headliner slot, and 2 nights of Panic + 1 night of DMB already have those slots fulfilled.
Kinda bummed about no Dead this year- but I understand that they need to mix up the headliner every year. I'd love to say 'freshen it up', but 2 nights of Panic doesn't exactly make it look 'fresh', now does it. S'ok in my book though- I recently discovered Panic, and LOVE their music! I'm stoked.
And- I agree with ka mai... in that I'm not disappointed by the initial lineup, but I'm not exactly blown away by it either.
I am a little bit more suprised then I thought Id be...
Bands im most excited about are: STS9 - (who got screwed the last time by not getting on the dvd) Ozomatli - who can throw down a nice party Umphreys - (new favorite band) Keller Williams
I'm a little bummed the Dead, Rat Dog, Phil & Friends, or some combo therein won't be at roo, but I suppose it will do me good to go to a fest where no members of the Dead are on the bill for a change...looking forward to the Allmans (hope they're Friday night as I want to be fully charged for that show).
Yeah, it looks alright. Nothing too impressive. No Moe though. Maybe later. Modest Mouse and Mars Volta would be the standouts if I were going. I'll just have to catch them when they come around my town. Iron & Wine too. That guy's voice is angelic. Commense with the DMB and thier "crowd" complaints.

Yeah...I'll be the first jerk. Dave and Friends was cool last year because it is Trey and Tim Reynolds. But DMB is not nearly as good in my opinion. I heard their shows have become very calculated and are lacking the improvisation they once had. But maybe we'll be pleasantly surprised. As for the crowd, who cares? Bonnaroo is about community and love -- and that includes Frat kids. Although it is hard to feel that "community" spirit when the crowd is a staggering 90,000 people.
The line-up was pretty good, nothing mind-blowing.
I'm kinda happy about Joss Stone. I've only heard a few of her tunes and her voice is amazing. STS9 and Bela are must see's as well as Umphrey's. I enjoyed Drive-By truckers the last time I saw them.
As for DMB I saw them at Vote of a change. didn't do much for me. Then I'm not a dead or phish fan. Some of the tunes are good but as for a whole show, not my bag.
Not too Shaby. I am not sure if everyone caught this, but I will post it.
Superfly Productions and A.C. Entertainment are proud to announce the initial lineup for the 2005 Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival. The fourth annual three-day camping and music festival will be held on June 10-12, 2005, on the same 700-acre farm in Manchester, Tennessee, 60 miles south of Nashville. A list of confirmed acts follows, with more to be announced before the on sale and in the weeks ahead to round out the festival's 60-plus acts
I think they have something up their sleve and I don't think we have to wait long to find out.

If you go to the bonnaroo website and go to the list of preformers playing, you will notice the bios are up and running and there are even full clips of some of the lesser known artists. To answer the Bela question, the bio says it will be: Bela Fleck Bryan Sutton Casey Driessen

Iron and Wine is the stage name for one Samuel Beam, a Florida native that made his name by releasing lo fi tapes in Miami. After catching the attention of Sub Pop honcho Jonathan Poneman, Iron and Wine was asked to send material to the label for submission. After a few months, two CDs arrived in the mail, both being full length albums. Poneman considered releasing them both, but instead slimmed it down to twelve songs and released it as The Creek Drank the Cradle. The tender-hearted EP The Sea & the Rhythm, which featured five tracks recorder during The Creek Drank the Cradle Sessions, appeared in fall 2003. Shortly thereafter, Beam headed into the studio for the very first time to make a record. The end result was the sharpness of Our Endless Numbered Days. That’s all I got on Samuel Beamhe, don’t much about him but I’m picking up hints of Paul Simon.
Imagine Nick Drake singing American folk music. A painfully fragile voice that rarely rises above a whisper and definitely one of the best songwriters out there right now. Generally bare bones acoustic, but on his most recent album he upped the production a bit and has some beautiful accompaniment.

When it comes to great songwriters in my opinion John Prine is up there with the best. Let me first qualify that statement by saying I would venture to guess that I’m about twice as old as most folks on this board and I’m probably waxing in an unnecessary vain here but, I first heard John Prine in 1971 just after being drafted into the Army during the Vietnam War, thank god I went to Germany and side stepped Vietnam unlike some of my unluckily friends. I know it’s not relative now and I’m just leaning a bit nostalgic but from my point of view with his songs like Sam Stone, Your Flag Decal Won’t Get You Into Heaven Any More, John and Lydia and later The Great Compromise, John Prine was the strongest voice of the military condition during those times. Much like Dylan time has taken its toll on his voice, and he has always had a lot of country folk twang that’s hard to get used to, but nonetheless he is one heck of a songwriter. The songs Hello In There, Billy The Bum, Souvenirs and The Hobo Song are interesting essays on the human condition as are many of his other songs, but that’s just my opinion.
