The students, all 20 years old, were walking along the street Saturday night when they were confronted by a man with a handgun, who opened fire and shot each of them “without speaking” before fleeing, according to the police department.
One of them was a student at my work. (He is stable and in a local hospital up there last I heard.)
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.
And this, after we've seen multiple videos of hostages being released who showed no fear towards their Hamas "captors." Doesn't Israel know by now that the world has seen the truth, over and over?
Are you honestly that ignorant? The hostages were coached to appear happy and smile for the camera as they were being handed over to Red Cross. It was so cringe and disgusting to watch, but their lives literally depended on it. They were very much in fear for their lives, and have stated as such.
I'm trying to find evidence that this happened. I'm not saying I don't believe you, I just want to see the evidence.

I think there was likely a very wide range of experiences that occurred during hostages' time spent with Hamas. Absolutely I believe that some were not treated very well (but I've seen a lot of articles focusing on the fact that they weren't fed well....and ummm yeah, people in Gaza haven't had access to much food for themselves for weeks upon weeks now -- so I don't think that particular piece of info can be used to judge the treatment received).
There have been some stories of not receiving great treatment, and I am not questioning those. I believe them, and if you'll notice in my post I didn't make any sort of claim like "EVERYONE was treated so well!" I was referring to some specific multiple clips including of a few young women where it isn't just about what they are saying (that you think they're being coached for)...their body language absolutely suggests they were not in fear. You can see it in their eyes, in the way they move their bodies. They aren't professional actors so no, I don't think those nuances are coached/faked.
But appreciate your kind words as always, Pale Horse!
Considering you've found the need to respond to my threads as if you are threatened by me I offer you some peace my confused counterpart. May you find peace in your restless soul.

Tell me more about people you've never met, in a land you've never been to. Enlighten me.
we are gonna need something beyond Times of Israel or one of the American outlets that's now a pro-Israel shill with everything they post.
ofc Times of Israel is going to claim this lol
I don't believe there is anything I could share that would make you believe the hostages were in fear during the exchange process.
pretty funny how you like to insult my intelligence/awareness but then you cannot practice basic reading comprehension. i was speaking specifically about a few clips i saw and was not trying to claim that NO SINGLE HOSTAGE was ever in fear or treated poorly.

I have watched every single Hamas produced video of the hostages being released. I'm confident in stating that every single hostage was in fear the entire time.
Regardless of the news source (which my work computer has blocked so I can't view it), it's not hard to believe that hostages did not have a good experience being a hostage. Pretty sure they'll all be scarred for life.
I can't understand why Rummy would downplay the experiences of the hostages. What's the point?

not sure why you are literally allowed to declare these statements as truth, but then to my posts with a different opinion you decry "Tell me more about people you've never met." talk about hypocrisy. NEITHER OF US CAN KNOW. i saw some clips that absolutely did not seem "coached into looking unfearful" by way of everything to do with body language which is much much harder to fake. SOME. CLIPS.
stop acting like i at any point claimed that no hostages at all experienced fear.

pls see above. i did not downplay the experience of the hostages generally speaking. i commented on the ones who have had positive reactions shown in letters or clips that to me felt genuine.

no one is ever allowed to have an opinion on anything they haven’t personally experienced ever
my original post was mostly to do with the despair i feel over how there have already been more than A HUNDRED (109 is the most recent number ive seen) Palestinians murdered since the ceasefire was lifted. regardless of whether the hostages were treated mostly horribly or mostly wonderfully (i certainly think a lot were somewhere in between), this is horrifying. i should've kept the comments separate, but i just reread my original post that spawned Pale Horse's reactions, and i was very clearly talking about SOME clips, and i do not take those comments/opinions back.

Anyone can have opinions on anything they like, that applies to ignorant opinions as well.
She was speaking about what the hostages experienced in captivity, based on propaganda videos posted by Hamas. I hope you can appreciate just how ridiculous that is.

you think the hostage videos are pro Hamas propaganda. i think the idf's video of "omg tunnels, omg a list a calendar" as well as a ton of what Israeli and US news outlets have put out is pro Israel proganda. we clearly aren't going to see eye to eye on this, we know this, but what im confused about is why you think always come in here acting like your opinions/perspectives are more valid than mine, or others who disagree with you.

I have actually been to the place we are discussing, many times. I know and am very close with people who live there. I talk to people who are there and actually living through this situation every day. I don't have to rely on the media to get updates and information on what is happening.
I also knew two people who were killed on 10/7, including a member of my family.
I had debated whether or not I should share that information in here for a while. I guess when pressed on why I might feel like I have a different perspective than others, I felt compelled.

Just curious, do you speak to Palestinians or just people living in Israelis?

Pale Horse - genuinely so sorry to hear about your family
If we are getting personal, then I’ll share that I have a family friend whose uncle & aunt were hostages, have recently been returned to safety.
Also one of my sister’s friends is Palestinian and has family who has been murdered by IDF.
I have sympathy for all victims, none of the innocents on either side deserve suffering or death.
This can be true while it simultaneously it is also true that My sympathy for Israel innocents does NOT change my position on the overall situation or make me any less passionately against the fucking genocide occurring against Palestinian innocents at the hand of Israeli govt/military right now.
