el p has been massively impactful in rap music. But to be fair, its Mainly from a production standpoint and as someone who created a label and helped break quite a few careers.
El P rapping has no impact besides giving boomers another act to see at festivals.
Every other year I'm brand new It's been 20 plus years, you think that's a clue Maybe this guy kinda kills what he do? He's prolly that dude, he's left enough proof Plenty of these goofs disappeared, poof I'm still the next big thing, gotta hurt, oof
Bronson is okay. This isn't who is the best rapper, it's who is your favorite rapper (least favorite for now). He was okay in **** That's Delicious the first couple of seasons but Action Bronson and Friends watch Ancient Aliens might be one of the dumbest shows I've encountered the last few years. I realize it's supposed to be, but it's about as low-hanging as Vice could get. Apparently people liked that show for whatever reason. The actual series was contrived and ridiculous.
Something controversial about me is that I don't separate "best" and "favorite" for anything dealing with music. Ever. I think the whole world will eventually come around to it and wake the fuck up. I just hope I'm around to see it.
I feel like favorite doesn’t imply best unless we are being hardheaded or OCD about specific opinions. That goes for music too. Favorite this or that doesn’t mean it’s the best particularly because favorite can be and probably should be fluid. Best can just be best. That intersection comes at Bill Bruford who is my favorite drummer but clearly the best and most innovative of the rock era. But a favorite album or song or show is too subjective to try to enforce any of those opinions.

its all subjective so they should just be the same. Merging favorite and best is just about becoming more comfortable with your own opinions and being less concerned with consensus 👀
I know this is about favorites and whatnot but Em, Mac, and El-P are a clear top three to me as far as skill/impact goes. Pretty much all Mac's albums have some great tracks and I think the style that he was evolving into around the time of his death had a degree of musicality that is less common in hip-hop. I'm still flabbergasted by the Paul Wall love but even excepting that it's hard to see a case for someone like Action Bronson not going before Mac.
