Inspired by my four and a half hour sitting yesterday for my third one, show me your tattoos, discuss them, ideas, artists you like, the usual.
My friend did this for me at her shop, I just gave her the basics and she took it and ran. Art nouveau, great horned owl, black gum leaves and fruit, and oak leaves.
Going in for session two, full color in a couple weeks. Autumnal colours, purple/lavender backdrop at the top, etc

I don’t have any tattoos because I have trust and commitment issues. This is my husband’s most recent paw print. He’s got one from each of our dogs that has passed on.

My wife, slightly tipsy, at dinner a week ago: "Ok, can I be honest with you? You need to get a tattoo."
She has two. I have none. I'm not philosophically opposed; I've just never thought of an image that means enough to me to want it on my body forever. Since my daughter was born, though, I've been thinking about whether I can/should do something related to her. My wife's idea is that I should get the phases of the moon (my daughter's middle name is Moon) along the inside of my forearm. But I'm also a little wary about that, because I work in a white-ish collar job and I'm not sure how they'd feel about visible tattoos. But the idea of getting it in some of the less-visible places isn't as appealing to me.
So, yeah, I may be too neurotic/too much of an over thinker for the whole endeavor. LOL.
Do you want to dance while also thinking about all the ways you've failed as a human?

I got a little Orville Peck mask/hat silhouette on my thigh last March but that’s been all so far. Did it on a whim to see how I liked it and if my fear of needles would kick in (have passed out getting a vaccine before lol). I’d like 3 or 4 more at this time but money looks like it’ll be tight for oh, maybe the next year or so unfortunately.
Currently I’m really fixated on the idea of a smashed hourglass with sand pouring out, as a reminder to myself that an abnormal timeline for the usual life accomplishments is okay and good. Maybe stick and poke for that one? But again the needle thing might spook me a little too much for that style
Most of my tattoos are 10 years or older, except I have been on a kick again and been getting them on or around my birthday. Crowns in 2021, and spooky for life last year 2022. It is time and I am scheduling an appt for this week, little quad skates on my inside left arm.
EDIT: So I have 6 other tattoos. My whole left side has a dragon (ribs from tits to lower hip), back of the neck has Japanese letters (good luck, prosperity, wisdom), left shoulder has Kyle's name in a rose, right ankle first tat ever, a Castle and the left ankle is two Celtic designs that wrap around. HOLY FUCK, after I posted I was like I know I have another tattoo...I have the classic tramp stamp. A Celtic heart.

Crown Gang, Rise up. I have a two crowns interlocking on my chest, over my heart, with the kids initals ironically enough.

These look awesome. Keep getting more.
I love that. The crowns and the spooky are from my boy, Chris De Angel. His lines are just so clean. My side piece isn't finished because the artist was very heavy handed, I got it two weeks before I left my ex, so I had to cancel my appts due to throw the chessboard of life in the air. It's been 10 years, 26 days (since my sitting)...but it was also supposed to be color and over the years I have noticed, on me, I don't like color.

I'll give him a look up. I have a few ideas on what next and gonna need some intricate line work.
I once had an appointment with Daniel Higgs in Baltimore (if you know the band Lungfish lol) and we were gonna do this crazy 4 eyed Jesus on my neck before I got sick and had to cancel. I tried for moths to reschedule and he was just too busy to do so. In a way it's one of my biggest regrets tattoo-wise.

I have no tattoos for the same reasons as Jorge - I've always wanted one but I would like it to have some meaning, so whenever I get an idea for one I sit with it for a while...and have eventually found that I'm glad I haven't gotten any of them. But I'm starting to give less of a fuck and last month I nearly got a Friday the 13th flash tattoo of a ghost with a thicc booty. So, maybe I'll get one soonish.
Last year I was seriously considering getting the lyrics "May no fantasy hold my head up" tattooed around my shoulder so that it'd form the dotted line that surgeons use when they're amputating an arm. But then a friend said "That's a cool idea, but then you'd be a person with a Pinegrove tattoo." I still haven't decided if they saved me from a bad decision or unnecessarily took the wind outta my sail. I think it was one of my better ideas, though I'm not a huge fan of lyric tattoos generally.
I feel like the older you get without having one, the less your chances are that you will get one. All the people I know that still don't have one all say the same thing as Jaz and Jorge, I want one but don't know what I want, it needs meaning, and so on. When I got one while with my ex, who had virgin skin, he was like so that is now forever on your body. Yes.
I personally don't regret or dislike any of my tattoos. Does my Japanese letter say what it is supposed to say? Idk but I know that I still believe in why and what the message is of the tattoo. My first tattoo that is now 31 years old (what the fuck) is blurred and you can't see the lines and the artist added stars around it, but it's part of me and I fucking love that. It doesn't mean anything besides its my first one. Just my perceptive.

paw print gang rise up!
i want more tats but just have two tiny ones for now, have a couple ideas swirling for bigger pieces that combine my love of music and water but know it's also a $$ commitment that i rather spend on fests and concerts for now. someday i'll be brave enough to start a quarter sleeve. until then, i'll gladly admire and dream up new designs.

I mother fucking love that song, that line, and that band. I don't see anything wrong with a lyric tattoo personally
I’m trying to think of how many I have. I’ll probably miss some. But I have an India Ink cross on my leg from when I was 15. Irish-side/surname family crest on left shoulder, left wing on left wing with a dragon tying those together, a fleur de lis outlined in broken stone, old English gang affiliate insignia and some Chinese letters on my left ribs roughly spelling the name of an old girlfriend phonetically (she paid). I think that’s it. Some were better ideas than others. But my first 3 were done by Jacci who was one of the first black women in the game. She’s like 80 now so when she started out, it was a lot of biker types doing them. I always wanted some Celtic knot work but I wasn’t ever sure what to get and how much pain I wanted to go through with all the crossing lines. Because of what I have done work for most of my adult life no one would know I had any unless I took off a shirt. But I got those mfers. I think it was kind of us in the hardcore scene early-mid 80’s that broke them into mainstream and out of biker culture.

My niece has a lyric on her foot from some emo aughts band and has no regrets 10 years later.
I think you need to remember that you are decorating your body. It was something to you at that point, so it will always be and I think that is fucking beautiful. I would have way more than I have if I had money.
