After 18 years we have decided that Screaming Females is coming to an end. A lot changed around us over those 18 years but at our core we operated pretty much the same throughout. We funded and made the records we wanted to make. We did our own art. We printed a lot of our own merch. We managed ourselves. Probably most importantly we loaded up our van with our gear and traveled around the world to play shows wherever you would have us. We tried to build and celebrate community the best we could. There are too many people to thank and too many things that should be said but right now we have some leftover merch that we would love to get out of Mike's basement! Order something for you, your friends, your family, your pets!
I had tix to see them last year when they were in town, but I skipped because my partner was ill and needed soup. Then I was going to see them at Riot Fest, but made a last minute audible to stay for Quicksand. I had tix to see them last month in a town an hour away. They cancelled last minute do to "a family emergency." Needless to say I'm pretty gutted. Desire Pathway is on my top 10 albums of the year list...

I finally saw them at RF. They were one of those bands that I never went to see for whatever reason and now I definitely wish I saw them more.
5/1 Belle & Sebastian 5/17 Echo & the Bunnymen 6/7 Hozier 6/8 Governors Ball 6/20 Future Islands 6/27 Silversun Pickups 7/25 Billy Joel 8/5 Green Day/Smashing Pumpkins, etc. 8/21 The Gaslight Anthem 9/7 Bikini Kill 9/10 St. Vincent 9/13 The National, TWOD, Lucius 9/14 PULP 9/27 IDLES/The Walkmen 10/3 Brittany Howard/Michael Kiwanuka 10/4 Bleachers 10/6 Vampire Weekend 10/9 Sting
The cancelled tour dates followed by this a month later has me a little suspicious. Not saying there isn't a family emergency big enough to cause a band to dissolve, but its just vague enough to raise an eyebrow. I just wish there was a farewell tour or something. This seems abrupt and not pre mediated.
Do you want to dance while also thinking about all the ways you've failed as a human?
