I don't usually stick around if something isn't grabbing me. I've seen some boring stuff or just left because the sound was bad, but not many sets i can think of that were just poor performances
but off the top of my head:
the freddie gibbs set was pretty disappointing. he was hammered (i think it was his birthday?) and just kinda shouting at the crowd a lot.
the 'tennessee superjam' where third eye blind butchered johnny cash though, holy hell that was so bad. whole thing had a lot of potential so I stuck it out for a bit, but it was so bad.
and the pretty lights superjam wasn't that good either.
I think sang disagrees, but modest mouse was really off too and isaac brock sounded awful.
I’m like the only person that enjoyed Modest Mouse. I was a huge fan at the time and it was my first time seeing them so that might have something to do with it. I also have a different opinion than most people about Vampire Weekend 2014. That was my first time seeing them as well. I know The Police could have been better but it was still The Police, so I enjoyed that as well.
Kings of Leon or The Killers Childish Gambino or Eminem Chris Stapleton or Sturgill Simpson Skrillex or Deadmau5
1. Idk/Don’t care for either 2. Gambino, Em just doesn’t seem to have much relevance anymore but I personally never cared 3. Sturgill 4. If we’re talking headline it’s Skrillex, so overdue it’s almost a joke.

I see it being Eminem only because he lines up in the 7 years since last time math. (2011 to 2018 to 2025) and the new album will give him a boost. But agreed that Em seems very mixed / borderline irrelevant with Gen Z so idk.
Kings of Leon are in the nether world of not being big/popping enough to headline a respectable festival, but big enough to run a competent amphitheater tour without having to accept pity undercard fest billings.
Yawn. We've done best show on each stage several times.
What's the WORST show you've seen on each stage/tent.
What: The Police 07 or Kanye 08 Which: Damien Rice 07 or Animal Collective 09 This: MGMT 08 That: Black Keys 07 or M.I.A. 08 Other: Bootsy Collins & Funk University 2011
Ah shit I forgot I saw Wolfmother in 07 on the Which. That was definitely the worst. Damn near thought I pushed that out of my memory for good.
My worst show was definitely The Police, especially as I was so excited to see a band I never thought I’d see live!
Wolfmother that Sunday will always be an incredible experience of a show, and some people know my awesome story of why that was. But that was a long time ago.
I'm still pretty convinced that IF KoL play Bonnaroo in 2025, they'd just headline by themselves.
How are The Killers more relevant than Kings of Leon? Both have been active for 20+ years and released 3 albums in the last decade.
Kings Of Leon are from TN nevertheless and they released an album in 2024. While The Killers haven't released anything new in the last 3-4 years.
I don’t know how we got here but we did. As a 35 year old that has gone to an outrageous number of weddings in the last 5 years. I can tell you that every single one of them features everyone losing their minds at some point when the dj plays Mr. Brightside. It’s a guaranteed play. There is no corresponding Sex On Fire play or any other KOL song.
A friend of mine who has very regular “what’s popular” music taste called The Killers “the bad of our generation.” Small sample size yada yada but there is something about the Killers that has permanently permeated in a way that KOL hasn’t.

Yeah I wanted to say something along the lines of if it weren't for Mr. Brightside that The Killers would not still be headlining festivals. No matter where you go out, whether a Karaoke bar or regular dive, it seems everyone has to stop what they are doing and belt it out. It's like millenials' Don't Stop Believing.

people my age are definitely nostalgic for The Killers and I don't think I've ever seen Kings of Leon mentioned outside of the yearly headliner thread.

jack white just announced that the he’s going to do the prince thing and only announce shows right before they happen so they can play club venues. he mentioned in there that there are festival gigs down the line “to help pay for expenses” and he seems like a shoe in pick for bonnaroo. especially if he’s willing to not headline
Wondering if Rufus is the first confirm we get similar to ODESZA in 2023.
come out and tell us they booked tame impala pls
They book Tame, Justice and Jungle and literally anything else would just be a plus for me. Would be the same as PL x2 + Khru but better. I feel like once it is solidified it would be a verrrry smart idea to go ahead and announce Tame as soon as they can, easy push for ticket sales there and the most got-to-have booking.
