For the purposes of making a mock more realistic, who are some artists you’d absolutely hate to see booked?
This might get me some hate, but I really hope we don't get Sabrina Carpenter.
I don't have anything against her, her music, or her fans. But her music just seems like such generic and throwaway commercial pop to me, it sounds like it's more designed to be in a Kroger commercial than trying to push boundaries like Charli or Chappel does. The Taylor association has kind of artificially risen her stock and most certainly her asking price for a festival. I kind of mentioned this in the podcast, but I think gambling that much money on her could kind of backfire in the same way that booking Macklemore for such a high spot in 2016 did.

The only issue I've got with having Gambino headline again is it still relatively feels like we just had him. That would have been six years ago in real time, but only four Bonnaroo's ago. That feels like a really quick turnaround, and it kind of highlights even more that we seem to have a revolving door of a large handful of artists that come back to headline every so often. That already felt like an issue this past year with RHCP and Posty.
That said, that Gambino set back in 2019 was probably in my top five of shows I've ever seen so I'm still very much cool with it.
I agree in an ideal world it’s too soon. But unfortunately, as you alluded to the industry has changed. The economics of festivals are tough, and so many HL acts would rather make way more money on an arena tour.
For Gambino though, it’s not as egregious as Post last year. And by all indications this is his last tour under that moniker so I’m personally thrilled we are getting him back with a new album of material that I’m excited to hear live.

Sabrina is a big pop star who is only going to get bigger and whose demand is very high right now. Take a look at some the resale prices for the arena shows, cheapest is around $200 on average. I think her rise is legit and festival age people love her. Very different than booking a gimmick rapper 3 years past his prime.
I don't have much reason to disagree with you too much, I just see it from a different perspective is all. I think another argument against her is that it doesn't seem like she's that smart of an investment when it feels like those die-hard fans of her are not going to feel that compelled to buy weekend passes and camp out.

these Chappell Roan, & Sabrina Carpenter fans are a different breed. People were camping out at 5 am to see Chappell in Richmond, contemplating ways to sneak on the island she was playing by swimming. I think a camping experience wouldn’t be that hard a sell.
Tbh I like some Sabrina songs but I think I know 3. Could be a worse booking wouldn’t hate it but wouldn’t be the thing that gets me to Roo that’s for sure lol.
For me, the biggest argument against her is that I fear she would eat up too much of the talent budget. But they seemed to do just fine after probably paying Megan a large sum last year, so it probably wouldn't be that big of a deal.

I think the current hype might make Sabrina more expensive than Megan.

not sure why Megan is the comparison here. RHCP and Post would've easily been the two most expensive bookings this year. RHCP pulled in $5M a show on average this tour. Post was around 1.7M avg last year.
