ween says they’re not touring for the foreseeable future due to dean’s mental health but this sounds to me like he wants to quit the band and they’re hoping that he changes his mind and doesn’t. this band has never said they have intentions on putting out new music since reforming so it doesn’t make sense that they would just say they’re not touring anymore when they probably weren’t going to put new music out

I feel lucky to have seen them as many times as I did, but was hoping to get one more in before they stepped down for good. Although it was a decade and a half ago I do recall one show in particular where Deaner just didn't seem like he was having fun at all and wanted to end the show as quickly as possible. I am hopeful they just take a step back for a few years and do a final farewell tour or something but agreed that it seems this could be the end for real.

i hope the same. i also hope Deaner is good, actually glad to hear it isn't Gener with the issues he's had in the past. it may be that Deaner is just over the road and wants to stay home and fish.
i'm also lucky to have seen Ween a good handful of times, so many great memories.
At Hangout fest, Deaner, to a boat that was anchored just off shore "Hey you, you on that boat! Yeah you!" <waits for them to notice he is talking to them> "Fuck you!"
Atlanta Tabernacle, just before the first breakup when Gener was NOT doing well. He looked like a wax statue and whenever he wasn't singing he just stood by the drums chain smoking cigarettes. They closed the show with "Let Me Lick Your Pussy" and like a hundred women from the audience got on stage and danced it was awesome.
i've told this story many times before but my first Ween show was Bonnaroo 2004 late night. They open with "Buckingham Green", right into "The HIV Song". The first time they screamed "AIDS!" this group in front of us all looked at each other with shock and disgust and immediately exited the tent. set closer was It's Gunna Be A Long Night > Ace of Spades > The Blarney Stone > Booze me Up and Get Me High > Poopship Destroyer. sweet baby jesus what a run of tunes.
my last Ween show was New Orleans 2022. in the weeks leading up to the show one of my friends and i were texting about what we wanted to hear, his only call was "Boys Club". As the show went on my friend slowly got drunker and drunker, after about song 7 he started like tapping me and saying "next song is Boys Club" in between every song, his speech slurring more and more, taps turning into punches and "BOYS CLUB" turning into shouts. Song 30 of the set was "Suckin Blood From The Devils Dick" and then right after that they go into "Boys Club" and it's happiest I've ever seen my friend. I was thrilled as well I'd never heard "Boys Club" live.
lot of great memories from one of the greatest song writing duos of all time IMO.

I think I was at that Atlanta tabernacle show. That's the one where they covered Ohio during the encore and before they played someone threw an empty bottle of BBQ sauce on stage and Gener was like "Thanks I guess." I don't recall Deaner's demeanor during that show. But at the Myrtle Beach 08 show he seemed really annoyed with the venue staff for comparing them to Ratdog. Seemed to just not enjoy the Myrtle Beach vibe at all.

ween at bonnaroo 2016 was great too. not as cool as the shows you guys are describing but i still really enjoyed it. opening with transdermal celebration and closing with the mollusk was so tight. i just remember after they finished the mollusk dean just looked off stage then looked at the crowd and said “they’re saying we don’t have any time” and shrugged his shoulders and put his guitar down and left. such an anti climactic ending that it was so funny.
which stage was on fire that day literally and figuratively. hot as all hell but it was kurt vile -> father john misty -> ween. there’s a video out there with father john misty, kurt vile, and dean ween all jamming backstage that day. fjm was on drums
EDIT: i found the video and it was deaner on bass, fjm on drums, and kurt vile just watching.

I really liked it in 2001 Mississauga when Ween played Suck my Butt into Pants:Shidded then closed it all out with Ring Around The Rosy, masterful stuff.

The best string of shows I ever saw by any band were the Ween reunion shows in Colorado. 93 songs over 3 nights. First ever Kim Smoltz and Israel. Pollo Asada -> Demon Sweat encore Saturday. They massacred us. Best bar band ever. Wishing the best for Mickey and hope we get to do another round of ‘schlager sometime.
Edit: deaner plastered sitting on the piano at the grand ole opry also a big music life highlight

Just put the nail in the coffin for roo 2025, ended up getting Oasis tickets for Manchester in the presale. Between that and Coachella next year my wallet will hate me.

I was thinking about the Oasis reunion earlier. If they would've decided to tour all the major festivals, would they be able to sell out a festival like Bonnaroo? Their tour sold out immediately, but not sure if they'd have that same effect if they did festivals.
The only reunion that I could see sell out a festival almost by themselves is Daft Punk. In a year they play Coachella, Bonnaroo, Lollapalooza and ACL, I can’t imagine tickets would be easy to obtain.
Who do you think would have the biggest influence on ticket sales if they played?

BTS, Taylor Swift, or Beyonce would sell out any festival they played

True, although have either of those ever played a festival before?

only beyonce w/ coachella. i dont think any of them would realistically play the whole festival circuit but i cant think of any truly realistic artists who would play and cause sell outs for all the major fests

So for sake of argument let's only count reunions. I agree Daft would he a bigger draw in the U.S.
I sort of think there's enough Mexicans at Coachella for Oasis to sell out. I think the roo crowd wouldn't care about them.
BTS reunion would be a huge deal and a must see.
Can't imagine any Rock or Hiphop groups are big enough to singlehandedly sell out a fest.
For hiphop best you got is either a Odd Future reunion or Outkast.
Rock wise seems like all the biggest bands are already together and are way past there prime
