I just don’t understand Noah Kahan’s instant success. I mean, his songs are fine, but what makes him stand out from every other band that sounds just like him?

it'll get going when the two guys who book bonnaroo meet up at their hunting camp after thanksgiving. any "rumors" you hear before then are sheer speculation.

From what I’ve heard they haven’t even started booking Bonnaroo. Scientists are still busy in the lab creating the next Noah Kahan from old Hallmark movies and locks of James Taylor’s hair.
but for real Daniel is the only one here who might have any inkling of where roo is at in the booking process.
It's been just a bit since I've heard anything I'd consider somewhat direct and not just hearsay, but at that time I'd heard it was a little behind where it usually is at this point.

He probably just got lucky with the right people/management getting behind him. I still know absolutely nothing about him though.

luck is always a factor in this but i think he's also good at tiktok. but yeah if you trace it back there is always room for a young unthreateningly good looking playing guitar on the quad type of guy to break through. jack johnson, ray lamontagne, jason mraz, john mayer, g. love, etc. they just have to pop at the right time.
i've listened to most of his catalog and haven't been able to connect with any song besides "Stick Season" but that is a really good song. earnest, clever lyrics, catchy, funny, gets in your head and won't leave. like he's acoustic guitar guy but with a dash of Ben Gibbard thrown in there.

i saw vampire weekend on saturday and this tour seems tailor made for bonnaroo. a ton of songs had different arrangements and they played a medley that included cumberland blues by grateful dead and possum by phish. and during that medley they let a fan play cornhole for money and they gave her $400 even after she missed the hole all 3 times. then for the encore they let the crowd request non vampire weekend songs to cover and they half assed their way through a verse and chorus of about 7 songs. super fun show and 7-piece vampire weekend sounds really good

Friday was such a great show. The encore included "Hey Jude", "Two Princes", "Don't Dream It's Over", "I Won't Back Down", "Groove is in the Heart", and "As It Was". Someone requested "Cigarette Daydreams", and Ezra said, "What's 'Cigarette Daydreams'? I don't know what that is" and just moved on. Vampire Weekend in the Cage The Elephant slot would be perfect.
