Hasn't there been a trend of people waiting to buy tickets closer to the date rather than the on sale? I think Fred's method of announcing shows is the way of the not too distant future.
Prince usually did this for shows from mid 1990s until 2016. Festivals or a venue like the Paris stadium got more advance notice.
Corona Capital also have really different headliner and sub placements compared to US festivals. Like Blur headlining or Phoenix subbing. I’m more curious how massive Chappell crowd will be at a non-US festival. Chappell -> Lana would probably be near impossible to get anywhere close.
If you go on twitter it really seems like she's the one in demand performer.
I think the Gaga comparisons are mostly based on the costumes, leaning all the way into the gays, etc. rather than people actually thinking Chapell is on a Gaga size trajectory.

For sure, I guess I was implying I predict short notice shows will become the industry standard than just reserved for ultra-popular acts like Prince and Garth. If for no other reason than to generate hype and the liklihood of strong ticket sales

Someone else mentioned something along these lines, but I think the short notice thing only works if you're not doing a full tour, making those one-off shows more in demand. Curious to see how the Fred show ends up selling - already has done pretty well but there appear to be a lot of tickets left still.

I know not all their scoops have turned out to be accurate, but YEazyBrazy on reddit is now saying D'Angelo is possible. I'm so curious what he's heard. A late night D'Angelo set in the Mojave would be nuts. Or would be he be outdoor?

I mean Pitchfork had him booked til a week before lineup drop last year. He is just slippery like that.
Edit: oh look, Goldenvoice straight up promoting a show at The Forum.
Yeah this rocks.. also what does a funkadelic show look like in 2024 lol
They're fun but really only worth checking out at this if you specifically need a “band playing live instruments” fix. (I thought this was the III Points thread when I posted this, but nevertheless…) Very much a legacy operation at this point.

Is Interpol really gonna fill out the Forum? Or is this gonna be another Black Keys story?

They have 3 dates for the album play in the u.s. When they did this for Turn On The Bright Lights they had 4 shows in total and it was 2 in Ny and 2 in La. Sold out State Historic Park at 15k cap in 90 mins. Safe to say itll sell out. And The Walkmen are opening so youll get your moneys worth. Youre also underestimating the latino/hispanic population which loves Interpol and will drop the money.

Interesting! Warms my heart to see them with such staying power. And when did Interpol become the new Morrissey?
