Regardless of his last album, if post malone were to headline it would likely be a similar set list to what he just did at bonnaroo. Not just country stuff. I’m fine without it either way.
Anderson is long overdue for a new solo album, could definitely see him return
Wonder what his placement would be? My guess is 3rd on his day, Outdoor closer similar to Jhene Aiko
He was 3rd line in 2019. Does the Silk Sonic album shoot him up that much?
I dunno how much Silk Sonic has to do with it, but he was billed just below the Killers and a couple spots ahead of Jon Batiste at Jazz Fest, so I think he's a second liner. This tour he's doing is an amphitheatre tour too.

I do think this but not as much because of the music and more because his mushroom hair in that era made him immediately recognizable anytime he showed up somewhere.

Like hugely popular Of Monsters and Men making third line behind less popular but short band names Foals and the Kills in 2016, I think his third line status mostly had to do with the fact that "Anderson .Paak & The Free Nationals" was just too long to give second line real estate to - they had to play some font games to even get it to fit on the third line. His stage/time that year was definitely a second line slot.

I remember seeing that at the time and being surprised he wasn't 2nd line back then. Not that I think/thought it was a major mis-billing or anything, but I wouldn't be surprised if it had something to do with the length of his act's name or something like that. Now that I look back at the poster, his day is the only one with 6 names on the second line, the other two had 7.

Even without Silk Sonic, I think Anderson is a middle second liner, but Silk probably moves him into the 3rd on his day conversation imo. I've seen him DJ twice now and people go crazy when he does any Silk song.
Anderson is such an interesting artist as in he's massive and not as big as you think at the same time? I think he's like.. the Charli XCX of the hiphop world in that regard.
Plus he gets a ton of respect amongst other artists for being a super talented dude and a fantastic performer, which I think Coachella honors sometimes. Like Solange and Janelle Monae getting sub slots even though they were easily less popular than Kid Cudi, The 1975, Bad Bunny, J Balvin, Zedd, etc. on the second line that year
Kevin Parker is a genius and the extended version of radical optimism should have been the standard. Production sounds way better. Hearing this live will be insane if dua ends up in the lineup. I’m curious about her set tomorrow in Glastonbury.

Should have used some of that genius on The Slow Rush though
Taking a look at it this morning it looks like Shaboozey’s small club tour he announced earlier this week sold out immediately. Would obviously be good for Stagecoach but I think he’d also be the type of crossover country act Coachella might book.

interesting that Shaboozey is playing a few very early day slots at festivals later in the year. curious to see how he draws and if the billboard hit sends him up to 3rd or even 2nd line

Just for snicks and giggles I’ll say 2019 Kacey Musgraves style billing.
