after this year's Glastonbury, it's abundantly clear that the people need *looking at the wrong part of the Clashfinder* Max Gurn vs. Drippy Chin at this festival next year 🗣️🗣️
wanted to add points to my hilton garden inn rancho mirage booking but they said the hotel is sold out and id only be able to add them via rebooking which i most likely would lose the room if i tried.
anyone have any recommendations for refundable hotels for the dates of 4/9-4/14? my usual backup of palm mountain is $2k nonrefundable for those dates so thats out of the question rn too.
i know that in 2023 it seemed anyone who booked the hilton rancho mirage one that didnt use points had their reservation cancelled so now im getting a little worried
I've stayed at the Best Western in Thousand Palms/Cathedral City. They allow for no money down reservations on Hotels.com. It's a pretty easy drive to the Tennis Gardens for the shuttle but might not be great if you don't have a car. Looks like they only have king bed plus couch available for weekend 1
Has anyone stayed successfully at the Rancho Mirage Hilton? I booked weekend 2 and prepaid on hotels.com but just found the reddit page about 2023 issues. I do have Hilton Honors points but have only stayed once with Hilton in NYC so I'm not used to their program.
I’d want a Coldplay reunion show, guaranteed to have more focus on older hits. Otherwise maybe if they were touring a classic album. I mean…I’d probably be there regardless probably, but begrudgingly. Their shift to pop makes me real sad.
You want them to break up and then get back together for Coachella?
Basically yeah, honestly. I’d rather they break up than keep putting out shit music. I did like Everyday Life but the broader public didn’t and they went back to the pop stuff that isn’t very good.
I don’t particularly enjoy watching bands that were once great (in my own opinion) fade away into oblivion trying to hold onto something they once had. Chris Martin could’ve done solo most everything the band’s done since Mylo (if not including Mylo). I’d rather they break up and eventually come back together. Would I rather that with the risk they break up and never get back together? That’s a good question I’m not sure how to answer.

Thank you, i did rancho mirage in 2022 and 2023. 2023 i partially used points and i think thats how i was able to keep my reservation. 2024 i stayed at palm mountain resort as i was completely unable to book rancho mirage that year. im gonna check out the best western u mentioned. were you able to drive and park at a shuttle stop?

And yes, the drive from the Best Western to the shuttle stop was 20ish minutes. The Tennis Gardens are about the closest stop to the festival and there were always shuttles ready when we parked

I don’t get the love for Coldplay at all, but I’ve never hoped a band that I liked would break up in hopes of them playing a greatest hits set at a reunion show.

That’s fair. Have you ever been sad to watch a band you love make worse and worse music? That’s really where it comes from - as long as they keep making bad music, they get further from playing songs I love live, and it’s also just kinda sad to watch a band devolve. U2 over the last 20 years is similar (and I’m sure I’ll get shit for liking U2, too)

I get that, with streaming though I can usually pick out a few good tracks here and there on an otherwise bad album. I just won’t buy the vinyl if I don’t like the whole product. And I’m a lifetime Weezer fan with no shame so I know what it feels like for a band to go to mostly shit on you. I think if you like Coldplay though no one should give you shit for liking U2. Their fan bases definitely overlap on the Venn diagram.

Coldplay’s first three albums had a strong hold on me. Maybe even their fourth, but they’ve lost me since then. Still one of the best concerts i’ve ever been to
I'll never understand the hate they receive. Last night's setlist could’ve been much better, but it still looked like an amazing show. you’re fooling yourself if you don’t think they could headline coachella and put on an amazing show

i really just don’t enjoy their music. doesn’t matter how much effort they put into their shows. with coachella though as long as i get one HL i wanna see i’ll be happy

Clocks is a top 10 song of all time for me. I still find it absurd that despite putting out pretty mediocre music, they can still sell out stadiums across the world while headlining Glasto 5 times. And they put a lot of effort into their live shows instead of phoning it in which I respect.
What are the odds the Coachella '25 headliners are a straight carryover from Glastonbury '24? 30%? Dua seems fairly likely, Coldplay hasn't played since 2005, and SZA apparently has a new album on deck. I'd certainly prefer a more adventurous trio, but it wouldn't shock me.

personally i think it will just be one. It seems they really try to ensure a unique trio year after year

I stayed in 2023. I was one of the reservations they “cancelled” a couple days after booking. After seeing a bunch of people from W1 say they were charged for those cancelled bookings, I reached out to Hilton’s corporate office. The manager ended up calling me personally the next day and said the cancellations were some sort of IT glitch and honored my original booking.
I didn’t stay there this past year as I stayed with a friend who had a timeshare, but I have a room booked for W2 2025. I booked it two months ago and it hasn’t been cancelled yet. I feel pretty confident that they won’t cancel.

Sza filling in for Madonna and having a tiny af crowd is telling of what they wanted over there thats for sure. I would say Dua, Coldplay and Kendrick hits all the spots. But thats probably gonna get out to the wayside when Coldplay announces some tour for their new album and it starts mid april in Turkey or something.

surprised avril is that big in the UK. SZA doesnt surprise me as much
Sza played Hyde Park last night and it was pretty much sold out. Avril is doing her greatest hits tour and its been selling well. People will try to save money when they can to catch the same set at a fest bs solo.

Zero, those are three #1's
That's that Glasto discount
Coldplay did it for free. Dua got signed on 18 months ago and Sza was booked to headline the second stage and when they lost Madonna she got bumped up. Thats the discount.
