I don't think that money is the biggest motivation in the eventual Gallagher reunion because they're going to get paid either way. I do suspect they're going to want a home team audience for their first shows back. A half filled polo grounds field versus a ravenous UK stadium is a big difference. Liam and Noel are always ego over money.

Jokes aside, Oasis would easily pull a bigger crowd than Blur at least. They were much more popular here in the States between the two and considering how anticipated this reunion is worldwide, I would figure more people would buy tickets just to see Oasis (especially if it's their only announced gig) as opposed to Blur just doing another show. As for HOW many people that would be, I'm not sure but I don't think it would a ghost town.
But I'd bet it would be the most streamed set of the weekend, barring Rihannas or Taylors on the lineup.

Ya the first Oasis show would pull. I think people here dramatically over estimate their popularity in the US, but they’d pull at least a GNR level crowd, I’d guess better. Now will that be enough to satisfy Liam’s ego? Certainly not. But he’d still cash the check.

There wil def be a large contingent of uk fans that make the trip if its first. You want to see it before the meltdown. And who Knows how much of a pain buying Wembley tickets would be anyway. They could play there for a month and sell them all out. Probably even 4 nights at Knebworth this time.

It's not impossible, but as has been mentioned Liam and Noel are both hams for attention and wouldn't want to play to anything less than superfans for first show back.
I also don't know how much GV would really bid on it to make it worthwhile. With GNR it felt like there was cultural currency on being the one to make it happen. The Oasis thing was always going to happen and Liam and Noel have been touring the catalog pretty heavily in recent years. It would be a get but doesn't feel like the smartest use of money.

Oasis strikes me as a bigger get than GNR, to be honest; Axl had been touring with the GNR name for years before the full reunion, Oasis has straight up not been a thing for 15 years. Doesn't matter if they'd played some Oasis songs individually. You couldn't buy a ticket for Oasis or just see Oasis songs.
And if "ham for attention" is the biggest thing - I'm not sure they could get more attention announcing a reunion than to have it be on the Coachella poster, and I'm not sure they could get as many people watching their first show as with a Coachella livestream (a UK livestream would definitely not draw the same online audience). But I suppose maybe they'd sacrifice both of those things AND a bigger payday to ensure the best possible crowd.

Oasis seems like one of those artists that PT wouldn't really care about overpaying though, he probably just wants them to finally say yes.
I guess that's really where the rubber meets the road. It doesn't feel like THAT level of get to me personally, but I'm also of the age that I saw Oasis a few times but was too young to see classic GNR.
I understand the motivated reasoning in this thread on justifying how Oasis could/should play Coachella, just doesn't feel like a match to me. But would happy to be wrong.
i think they would start out with a Tyler sized crowd and gradually get huge, peaking with Wonderwall
This is straight delusion. We already have a track record for this era of 90s britpop at Coachella over the years and the crowds were all either way below average or downright embarrassing. The idea that they would even start with a Tyler-size crowd is absurd, and then pretending that their performance would draw the Coachella kids in like rats to the pied piper is just wishcasting fan fic with no precedent.
There's no chance they would debut at Coachella and risk a PR disaster/ego hit, so the superfans will be traveling elsewhere anyway and there won't be hordes of Brits/Mexicans/whoever else you're imagining filling the main stage. There's just no realistic scenario where they end up with a large or even middling main stage crowd no matter how many fantasies are mashed together. It would be guaranteed to be in the bottom 10% of main stage headliner crowds and the only way the ceiling goes above that is if Daft Punk closes after them.

This. It’ll be a fine crowd but lots of articles would go out about how unenthusiastic the crowd is especially compared to back in the day. And Liam/Noel definitely care about their ego. Even if their first UK shows were to go off as mediocre, those insane crowds would make up for it that no one would care.

1. This isn't just any 90's Britpop band, it's the biggest one of them all and the one that was actually popular in the US.

Thinking Oasis is comparable to the stone roses and blur in the United States is the delusion
Oasis was undoubtedly bigger than Blur in the US but I do think people here overrate the difference, particularly 20 years later. Especially when considering it's in the context of weighing the draw with a non-normie music audience.
Less talk about Oasis reuniting, more talking about that Reddit rando who said the original Go-Gos were reuniting at Coachella
Yeah this did not get nearly enough attention
The gist of the post was that he met original drummer Gina Schock who said they were playing this and Cruel World, and while I believe that meeting happened and she said that I’d be kind of surprised if it did since that seems like such a slam dunk booking for Cruel World and there hasn’t been a band that’s played both in the same year so far. Still, would be cool if it happened!

Oasis has actually pulled off an arena tour in NA, something Blur has never done. What’s the Story Morning Glory has sold more than Blur’s entire catalogue in NA. Blur has only had 1 album go top 40 in the US. Every Oasis album has after their first has and even their most recent album long after their peak went top 5. There is a big difference in their popularity.
