Rabid Oasis fans traveling would likely get priced out of tickets anyway so there won’t be a huge contingent of them able to attend.
If its the first first show these people will fork the money over. You should see how many brits are going to Vegas to see The Killers residency. Theyve got money to spend.
Oasis was undoubtedly bigger than Blur in the US but I do think people here overrate the difference, particularly 20 years later. Especially when considering it's in the context of weighing the draw with a non-normie music audience.
Oasis has actually pulled off an arena tour in NA, something Blur has never done. What’s the Story Morning Glory has sold more than Blur’s entire catalogue in NA. Blur has only had 1 album go top 40 in the US. Every Oasis album has after their first has and even their most recent album long after their peak went top 5. There is a big difference in their popularity.
Oasis was and is bigger than Blur. No argument there. But albums sales from 25 to 30 years doesn't feel like the greatest barometer to me on festival draws.
To me the more telling indicator is Liam's draw when touring the US. It's always been midsized theaters, and he's able to do arenas/stadiums in a lot of other regions.

Robert Plant plays mid-sized venues when he tours, but you can be certain that if Led Zeppelin got back together they’d play the biggest venues possible.
Same goes for Thom Yorke, small venues on his own and arenas with Radiohead.
I don’t necessarily think one member of a band solo is the best indication of how the reception would be as a band.

Someone else already nailed the fallacy of looking at Liam's draw as an indicator of Oasis's draw, so I'll leave that out, but look at google search traffic. Oasis gets consistently 3x the interest Blur gets in the states, despite not existing as a band, releasing any music, etc. For a lot of the last 5 years they've been neck and neck with Radiohead. Add a reunion and these numbers skyrocket.
I don’t mean necessarily priced out just that the average Coachella demo will snag tickets first as they usually do so I don’t see this huge contingent of Oasis fans going to the festival. There would be some counter headliners whose fanbase will take up most of the overall attendance.
Anyways, I think they’ll play the festival sometime just not the first date back.

Do we think a new Zedd album could lead to him being on the lineup? I’m always a sucker for 2010s radio edm like Calvin Harris in 2023 since it’s nostalgic for me and I would love some Zedd so much

I would say it's reasonable that Oasis is 3x bigger than Blur in the US across the entire population. I would suspect for festival minded people, it's more narrow then that.
If that's the calculus, I don't see how you can make the godfather offer to Oasis in a way that makes sense for either side.
Note - this isn't an argument that an Oasis reunion couldn't headline Coachella. It obviously could. Just that I don't see it making sense for either side as the first shows back.

Zedd 2019 was one of the worst main stage sets in recent memory lol
Oasis would be less of a draw than No Doubt but would have a respectable crowd for sure. I don't think they'd be big ticket movers for Coachella though. Considering ND didn't give Coachella a huge sales push either. There's honestly very few acts that would be a huge sales driver nowadays, imo. It is what it is

Would agree with this.
I do have a strong inclination about Alesso being on the bill for next year.

I'm old enough to remember when everyone thought no one would go see No Doubt, either.

It would drive sales cause so many people going will have not seen them. Its been a reunion people have wanted. Not to say No Doubt wasnt in demand but Oasis having been gone for this long is a pretty big deal. The thought it could end after weekend 1 would drive the hype up if they just do a solid job.
90s millennial here, only know Wonderwall by then and there’s a 99% chance I would rather be at Yuma or any of the other tents during an Oasis set. Can’t recall any of my friends like anything else by them either.

I think an Oasis reunion gets a lot more press than the No Doubt reunion too. Maybe about the same in the US but nearly every major publication in the UK (and possibly beyond) would be talking about Coachella if they got their first gig back.

Oasis would be great for the brand of Coachella and the livestream but yeah the other stages would need to be open lol. Wonderwall ain’t worth staying for 2.5 hours to watch two English brothers bicker.
And for every 1 person who will drop their life savings to travel from the UK to see the first show waiting at the main stage with newjeans fans there’s 10000 who would rather use that money to see it on that side of the pond to sing every word with their lads

Sorry to say I was tripping balls and had an amazing time.
Let's jump to the other side of the globe... What J-Pop artists might be in contention for next year? While K-Pop seems to get the higher billing I've been much more consistently pleased by the J-pop they've booked over the past few years. Perfume, Kyary Pamyu Pamyu, YOASOBI, and ATARASHII GAKKO! were all highlights of their respective years for me.
Can someone ask the old lady from Egypt what she thinks of Lana Del Rey headlining Coachella so we can know whether the festival has redeemed its reputation as a laughingstock worldwide

I could see Yuki Chiba being there. His song with Megan seems to be gaining a lot of traction
Also, let’s just bring back Perfume. Their set in 2019 was so fun!

Have ticket for next year and zero desire to see Oasis at Coachella, love them but would much rather catch a show in the UK. I think they’d draw a big crowd but most would be talkers until Wonderwall and Champagne Supernova.

I keep figuring it’s gotta be Babymetal’s year eventually, they’re maybe the biggest Jpop adjacent crossover act that hasn’t played this festival yet.
