There are other negotiations beyond flat booking fees. Wouldn’t be surprised if she took streaming rights from her set and some portion of that revenue- for example. Could even negotiate for portion of ticket sales after lineup release
Taylor Swift - the first PPV streamed Coachella set.
I was just about to say there are plenty of other ways to cover the cost of getting Swift to headline. GV could command significant increases in sponsorship fees, much as the Dodgers were able to do after signing Ohtani.

Can't they up capacity because of the expanded grounds too?
That would have had to be put up to a vote with the city council and we would know about it. They likely would have to cite reasons as to why they want the higher capacity. And they didnt just add all the extra tickets for sale when the capacity was raised last time. It was over a few years. So maybe they get an extra 5k of tickets added on. Thats nothing. And you would have to read through GV's deal with Indio and if it has any spots to renegotiate things.

One of the more interesting things here is that despite the year she's having, no Charli XCX. Brat peaked at #3, and has zero top-10 hits. What a strange pop star she is.

It came out halfway through the year and Charli was doing basically no sales before. All these artists had a huge head start.

Not being in the top ten isn't all THAT shocking (though Chappell's on there) but I do think the overall performance of the album is surprising. This isn't a "Charli isn't a headliner" post btw, just that she's developed a very strong live draw despite a lack of certified hits. Not dissimilar from Fred or Rufus, to be honest. She's unique.

The deal with Youtube has expired. We dont know if theyre keeping it or not. I think they might want to put it on Prime like Stagecoafh. Bezo's bucks.

She’s definitely a bit of an interesting case. Had a small, but dedicated fan base previously. BRAT obviously blew up in the mainstream, but I don’t know if people just discovering her went back to check out the rest of her catalogue.
I don’t really understand why Shakira cancelled an arena tour to do a mix of arenas and stadiums instead of just keeping the original dates then adding more next year.

F the HLers!
Darkside (75% likely?) and Joni Mitchell (51%?) would be enough for me.
Massive Attack (49%) and Plastikman (49%?) would be the icing on the cake.
Aphex Twin, Moby Live, Max Cooper, Helena Hauff, Jose Gonzalez, plethora of other awesome IDM, underground/experimental, Brit-Pop, indie Just Like Heaven bands and Rokysopp might be in play too with that kind of bookings. Tee-hee . I love you, Coachella lol. Do it, drop the lineup already, cure our sufferings/depression.

Richie Hawtin will do everything but a Plastikman show it feels like at this point and I can’t understand why.

Hypothetically speaking… what would be the point of dropping the lineup early if Taylor Swift was on the lineup? Feels like her alone would result in an immediate sellout regardless of the rest. I honestly buy the early release date more than her being on the lineup at this point.
I think people just want to sanewash the idea of Taylor headlining so they can have hope. It's been a rough few weeks of rumor season and the people need hope.
