The tickets were not $20 outside of maybe some nosebleeds closer to the concert for those that missed the actual sale since it didn't fully sell out (it was still like 95% sold at retail price). Charli could not fill that type of venue period, even in LA. Coming from a fan of both too. Also, Fred's tour (outside of the Coliseum, Frost, and SF shows) has focused on hitting non-major EDM markets, his ticket pull is not focused on his ability to sell out an arena in DePaul, MI, but his continued ability to sell out high capacity shows in California and NY despite visiting them multiple times a year. Plus, I'd argue his career took off after his massively overfilled Mojave set where he was already criminally underbilled at the time (more so than Chappell was in their respective moments of fame in those times).
There's also the point that another person made that Charli would be headlining off of one massive album alone, which is different to a steady career. And you not hearing about Fred outside of this forum is less of a stain on him than it is on your lack of engagement in the EDM realm.
Also, I think he's cut down on the talking, or at least we can only hope. It was pretty unbearable at the Coliseum, although not literally 2 days prior at his Secret Life show there, he didn't talk much at all so he at least does have the capability to shut up lol
she sold out two arena dates with insanely expensive resale in LA she could easily sell 60k tickets for $20. and saying Fred has had a steady career rise and not charli is just moronic.
Charli has largely remained stagnant within niche gay popstar territory and saw a sharp increase in brat, that is hardly stable. She could easily go back to that territory next album cycle, while Fred likely won’t fade from EDM relevance for some time.
Also I quite literally said they didn’t sell for $20 outside of the few nosebleeds that were left like two days before the show, a VAST majority of tickets (literally all tickets below the top nosebleeds) went for face or high resale. Did you read what I said?
Edit: Also apparently Fred sold the show out, so make that 77.5k tickets lol Charli cannot headline a stadium show like that, and for a DJ to do so, is honestly crazier than a pop star

she was already a second liner pre brat
Which means it's very likely she could sub or have a returning slot rather than headline

Say I'm scrolling through Instagram and I see several of these bullshit sites with low quality stuff advertising Daft Punk/etc Christmas sweaters, and I don't want to buy from these shitty spam sites but I do now suddenly want to buy a Daft Punk/etc Christmas sweater...what's a good place to look online?
The Charli v Fred discussion is largely pointless but I disagree with the claim that Fred will be relevant longer than Charli. Charli has already been in the public eye significantly longer than Fred has and I would argue Charli's hyperpop sound and style was already forward thinking years ago and the mainstream is only really catching up to it now. Brat's an instant classic and my sense is that it will remain timeless, Von Dutch in particular strikes me as a song that will still hit in clubs and DJ sets 10+ years from now. I Love It already holds up for being 10 years old.
I don't know that I would say the same about Fred's music though I'm genuinely interested that someone has the opposite opinion because I think this kind of legacy / long term stuff is fun to think about despite being fundamentally unknowable right now

I actually agree with you to a degree. I think Fred might enjoy mainstream appeal (and has enjoyed it) for longer than Charli will (I don't really count the Fancy/Boom Clap/I Love It run given career trajectory), but Charli will likely retain more of a core fanbase around her music and aesthetics than Fred ever will once the hype clears away. I do worry though that if Charli goes back to making more avant garde music ala the Charli/Pop2/Vroom Vroom days, whether the public will latch on still or whether she'll go back to A-list gay celeb but C-list mainstream celeb status.
Don't get me wrong, she absolutely took over the year and has pretty much been THE cultural zeitgeist of the summer, but it's truly what happens after that. I'm glad she's seemed to find a good middleground between her PC label infused aesthetics and the more mainstream sounds of Crash though. She really struck that perfect point of making that future-forward sound she's had for ages appeal to a much wider demo. I really do hope we get some AG next year too!
Also, brat is definitely a certified classic. I think we'll look back on it as sound defining for the time.

yeah radiohead are infamously staunch zionists/anti bds. a lot of articles came out about thom basically telling bds supporters to fuck off a few years ago. johnny greenwood is also pretty awful. it put me off getting into them more when i saw that
