it is strange how people seem to love bass music at bonnaroo but every couple years they are like "lets try booking a bunch of house instead".
i know PL has a unique appeal but i feel like a bunch of bass artists would've complemented him better than artists like oliver heldens. i'm not complaining, personally i'm happy to have some more house, just saying its an odd choice.
It is crazy to me that none of his posse / edm artists that are similar to PL are missing from the lineup. Would have sworn we would have gotten 1-3 of Manic Focus, Break Science, Michael Menert, Chris Karns, Marvel Years, Maddy O’Neal, So Down, Minnesota. Somebody along those lines. Gramatik in the Diplo spot would have been a major improvement for ya boy.
Those all seem like possible WITW additions. I totally agree about Gramatik > Diplo. Although Sunday electronic is much better than last year with Fred, Four tet, Tsha, and Veggi. Saturday is the weak day I can see them adding someone like Manic at witw.
I agree 100%. Edm is soooo much better this year. Majority of my top 10 most anticipated are edm acts, so that’ll be a fun change of pace. WITW has to be getting some bass for sure, no reason to have house acts on both The Other and WITW. Gramatik woulda be bitching, but at we have two PL sets.
I asked in a very careful way if it would be silly to expect Tame doing a 10 year anniversary show next year, Brad's answer was "it makes a lot of sense." Which isn't a yes, but was more than enough for me.
I'm 100% on board with Tame coming back, I just personally hope it's not a full Currents set. They've played most of those songs a ton, and the ones they haven't imo are not as good live songs as what we'd get from Lonerism, Innerspeaker, etc. Unless they actually gave them a 2 hour slot or something, then I'd be down for it.
I hear what you're saying but I also think there's something special about getting a full album live.
My ideal scenario would be something like what U2 did with the Joshua Tree. Play a few hits, play the album, then finish off with a few other hits.
I was looking up yesterday to see how many acts I’ve seen. I came up with 19 total which seemed kind of light But I haven’t yet gone back to the last 3 I went to compare to those. I think some of it seems that way because of the EDM they have this year isn’t stuff I usually go to. Some like PL I’ve seen a dozen times and some several or a few. I came up with PL, RHCP, Fisher, GWAR, Michigander, JRAD, Gary, Thundercat, T-Pain, SvD, Diplo, Cage, Idles, Brittany, bbng, Alexandra as Alison W, JI & 400, Yves and Joey Bada$$. I can’t remember a couple of EDM or not (Galantiis, Dr Fresch). I guess I’ll look back at some point when I don’t have shit to do and.figure out if this is around average or not.
I’ve only seen 7 so far: Jason Isbell (12), Cage the Elephant (2), Gary Clark Jr (2), Teskey Brothers, SG Goodman, BADBADNOTGOOD, and T-Pain.
Hypothesis of this being fewest previously seen turned out to be right. I didn’t look at the cancelled lineups I had tickets for, but 2024 is fewest (19) compared to 2019, 2022 and 2023. I was probable on a couple I left off. It ended up being 37 in 2019, 32 in 2022 and 24 in 2023. On a downward trajectory (subject to the remainder of the lineup)

I’m the other way on this. I only have Pretty Lights (if they count) in Top 10 albeit #1. I love the Thursday WITW mountain proposed, but I can’t see myself going all the way from Groop and back except for Wednesday or something like if they gave Break Science a 3:00am show. I also don’t see myself spending much time at The Other. I don’t hate all of it. There is some trap, d&b, hybrid stuff and plenty of research to go. But so far I had way more EDM shows and bands I actually liked in 2023.

Those two friends who book the lineup said they are going to put some bass artists in WITW. so hopefully it’ll have a couple acts you’re into. Get you some not wimpy edm
What an emotional rollercoaster the past week or so has been. Started with the incredible drama of the leaked poster and the ensuing cum. I was super bummed about the lineup itself and my group wasn’t enthused either. For most of the week it looked like we were passing on Roo.
A confluence of things happened to change things. First: the lineup has really grown on me; especially once you look past the top two lines. Second: Roo has looked exponentially better relative to the other lineups that dropped. Third: it was the realization that this is probably my last chance at Roo for a good while and god damnit if the farm isn’t the most magical place on Earth.
All that to say; I’ve decided I’m going to make this happen. Still need to nail down the group logistics but I can’t tell you how much better I feel knowing I’m getting one last ride. It’s unfortunate how much my happiness is wrapped up in attending these things but that’s a whole other story.
I was really surprised and happy with how open and transparent they were with me and Sharla. Here was the notes I took on stuff that stood out to me.
They seem to be giving Fred and his team license to do just about anything that they want. Which in theory would include doing an in-the-round setup if they want. Since this is an exclusive, they seem to want to go the extra mile to make it something really special on Sunday night. That time slot wasn't accidental.
They almost put together a "Roo Museum" in town at a building they almost bought, they were going to take old stuff and put it on display there. I didn't get to mention this, but I may actually know someone in town who can help make that happen eventually.
They're about to start focusing more on the few things that do really work in the camps. House of Yes, WITW, Groop, etc. Other things will have perhaps a lesser focus and will be rotating around every year. Also Brad said he'd get us a water station at WITW.
Groop mostly moved because of traffic logistics. They're looking at adding to it and growing it in the coming years.
They have a guy who has a laser focus on improving ADA. Brad didn't go into specifics about some of the issues of recent years but implied that they're leaning on that guy to tell them what they need to fix.

Would be cool to have the roo museum at the farm. New attendees could see what it used to be like and might have more appreciation. There was a basically empty barn (plaza 8 maybe) last year that it could go in.
WITW did in 19 and 22 The rabbit from 16 arch, clock tower, etc. last year it was all around the campsites

I still don't understand how WITW isn't mainly house music and The Other isn't bass/cheese edm. A lot of people wander to these stages without knowing the artist so I feel like maintaining a consistent vibe is important.
I really enjoy Tame but Currents is their worst album yall. Still a solid B but still 4th place
If it’s a LN show or a dual headliner situation it’s cool.
So I’m asking. Where are my friends?
Tame usually rules live except for people who have bones to pick.
Once you get over that Tame is not a jam band. It stings a lot less. They are solid live, but I never felt they went above and beyond what was expected. Except on their live album where they seemed to actually let songs breath a little.

I’ve seen them twice at minor-ish festivals (Float and Buku), and they were Top 1 at both
