I feel like this has all been an adventure to see if people could answer one question correctly: Petro or Rats Nest. Looks like we're going to fail the test.

as i already said my primary reason for doing this was to get a genuine list of the gizz albums inforoo prefers most to guide my future listening, but my secondary reason was to see how far Petrodragonic would make it because i am in absolute awe of that record.

Well, since I have been a very bad participant thus far I am happy to provide some random recommendations.
- the best vinyl to own is Polygonwanaland. It's a great album and since they let all the bootleggers press copies there are TONS of great versions out there. I personally love my copy from needle juice and I think it was $20 - the best album is definitely Nonagon Infinity full stop. I genuinely believe that Petrodragonic Apocalypse or Dawn of Eternal Night is the second best album from front to back. I haven't had an album (in any genre of music) take hold of me like this since maybe Anderson.Paak - Malibu. It's a masterpiece and the songs translate exceptionally well live. Just superb stuff. - the most underrated album is Paper Mache Dream Balloon. I didn't give it the time of day for a while, but it has some really great earworms and actually has some quite interesting instrumental pieces. - I will never understand hate for the microtonal albums; I would understand if someone said any of them was their favorite KGLW album - I really struggle with how to rank Omnium and Gumboot Soup. The highs are SO high, but there are some skips for me.
Anyways, King Gizzard rules and I cannot wait for summer tour.

awesome, thanks for the recommendations. i have actually listened to every note of king gizz's catalog but when you are just working and listening to an entire band's catalog in your headphones it doesn't really stick. so i continue to go back and listen to albums randomly, eventually i start remembering certain songs.
but yeah the flow of petrodragonic is what got me. i saw the album cover and was like "cool" and started listening. right away with Motor Spirit it's super rad, but the intensity just keeps ramping up. "Supercell" rules, "Converge" rules, then that opening to "Witchcraft" (still my favorite song on the record) and, especially dropping into that first "wooooo" i'm like well goddamn, four A+ songs in a row, this album is awesome no matter what happens next. and then that groovy fucking DROP into Gila Monster, arguably the catchiest and most single-ready song on the record, feels like a victory lap. i literally squealed in delight the first time i heard it.
then of course the fascinating percussion and crunchy ass riffs in Dragon keeps things from getting stale, then wrap shit up with the pummelling brutality of Flamethrower, before fading out into an ethereal Silver Cord-esque jam. i mean what more could you want from an album.
the musical and lyrical callbacks tie the whole thing together.

The most boring song ever live. Play the same chords forever, hardly any cool jam and it takes way too long.
Sorry this might be my hottest take but most overrated Gizzard song for me
I kind of agree, but still love the song. When it comes to their long songs it is far from their best. Gaia is my favorite song on the album.
I don’t hate the song by any means, it just blows my mind it’s the most popular song of theirs on here. There’s like 30/40 songs I’d rather hear before Dripping Tap live. Hopefully they don’t play it in Asheville this year
Predator X, Gaia, Kepler 22-B, Red Smoke, and Presumptions are all better than dripping tap off of Omnium.
Omnium just seems like a hodgepodge of songs, like Oddments 2.0 but better.
so are Ambergris and Magenta Mountain. Kind of agree on Dripping Tap, it’s still an elite treadmill song and the first time I heard it live was euphoric but it was actually my pee song at both Bonnaroo and Forest Hills in ‘22

I’m not sure how to unpack and respond to this outrageous take. As someone that got to hear it live for the first time at Shaky right after it came out, from up front and center, and watching everyone go apeshit crazy and dance their ass off, and wishing it would go on longer than the eighteen minutes and seventeen seconds that it does, I got nothing.

Yeah those are both better as well, points against Dripping Tap but points for Omnium :/ lol. If I didn’t piss in my empty beer cups and pass them to randos walking by me in the crowd then I would use it as a pee song as well.

Unless this was a joke. It was a joke right?
Hyperbole but def mids on this song. When I listen to this album I always start on Magenta Mountain. Save myself 18 min of the same sound without much switch up. I love Gizz but def one of my least fav songs.
There has been a lot of pee song talk lately. Am I the only one that holds that shit for the entire show?
So far I haven’t peed at a Gizzard show, during an opener or waiting yes. They don’t play a long time. So I’m usually good to go during their sets but a 2 set jam band show set up I’m def pissing one of those sets 4sho
