Its pretty when its not boiling hot or storming. It is the desert after all.Cell phone reception is abysmal so dont expect to be able to use the internet for 4 days at a consistent rate if youre camping. Surrounding area is whar you would expect and such.
tbf of all the tiktok spotify playlist fodder at least their influences are cool. David Lynch and Mazzy Star vibes.
A year ago today, being oblivious to them being on tiktok and only listening to their records, I would've thought CAS was a good fit for the festival because of the Lynch/Mazzy vibes. Then I went to see them last August and was surprised the audience was so heavy on teenage girls, and by the number of said teens who were swooning and even fainting like it was the first time they'd ever been to a concert.

Thats their core demo and is most people the last couple years. Saw them open for Garbage and most everyone was trying to nap at the time. This was back in 2016.

I remember seeing them at Treasure Island in like...2018? Had maybe heard their name or seen them on a work playlists, but I was pleasantly surprised? Sort of? They played at sunset and it was definitely "a vibe" if nothing else. Could be worse. Always could be worse.
I wouldn’t put it past any US festival to book outside their comfort zone just to stay afloat nowadays. P4K did it with Alanis.
That was Black Pumas. Alanis is in their wheelhouse of legacy adjacent acts theyve had at the top the last few years. The Roots, Erykah Badu and the Isley Brothers all fit in that.
CAS put the poster up on accident but I guess nobody did their job 🤣

Was travelling most of today on a business trip. So we get CAS due to their crazy recent popularity with the young blood? If it helps the fest, whatevs. They did play back when the fest was in JT (either '16 or '17), but I didn't seem them then. Probably won't see them now, especially if they're playing Sunday night...I too will just bounce early haha

If what I saw on reddit is the real deal, I can honestly say I am surprisingly underwhelmed. So much so, I may not even go any of the days this year. What a bummer, but such goes life.
Agree. Not exciting but fine. Seems pretty light on psych compared to the past. I'm sure it'll be fun but we're inclined to sit this one out.
I rolled over my tickets and there's still enough for me to have a great time so I'll be there, but the majority of the top lines don't do much for me.
Pretty solid lineup if you can get past the top 3 being Jack White - Cigarettes After Sex - Alex G
This is where I've landed pretty much. Obvious swing towards general Indie. I had some dissonance as the local fest I volunteer with had Fleet Foxes, Thundercat, and CAS as headliners last year which threw my brain for a loop.
If headliners were Mars Volta, Sleep, and Molchat Doma I might like this more, which obviously is a bit silly. Line 4 downward fucking rips and I think this is enough to get me to Perris.
(I like Alex G but he is an extremely strange DD Headliner)

I think what joyrider was saying is truth. You’re gonna start seeing a collection of head scratcher headliners for more curated festivals. It doesn’t make it bad, per se; just different.
I’m not into any of these artists but headliners never sell me on festivals. It’s nice but I’d rather have a few full days of non-stop and just relax at the back for those. I can always find something else to do.
Sleep and Unwound are a dream come true for me but I’ve committed to something and can’t back out now.
