abusing adderall absolutely wrecked my life, on the other hand one of my best friends growing up was a "problem" kid who didn't do well in school so he got sent to a special school. got on adderall and then went to regular high school, graduated college, career job wife kids doing great etc. definitely a game changer for people who need it and use it responsibly, bad for people who just like to get fuckin geeked out. the downsides of amphetamine abuse are really obvious, the punk rockers all figured this out in the late seventies.
ive also known some people growing up (though that was Ritalin) and in college who were pretty wrecked by their dependence to it so ive always had a bad outlook on it, but I get that it is good and works for some people.
interesting. so i actually have adhd--was diagnosed as a kid, then went through testing again last year and came out of it with the updated Audhd diagnosis, but with the ADHD part more prominent--and adderall is NOT good for my brain and constitution, whereas ritalin is literally a life changer for me.
i had honestly avoided even trying a stimulant ADHD prescription for my whole life til last year because of how anxious adderall has made me when i've tried it in the past (both recreationally and for focus), but then my pyschiatrist mentioned that some people who hate addy respond well to ritalin and vice versa. gave the latter a try, and it has been such a game changer. i don't feel jittery or "uppity" on it at all, it just smooths my focus and attention capacity to be on a more even plane throughout the day.
edit: but ofc this is me speaking from the perspective of using adhd meds as someone who actually HAS it. when someone is using addy or ritalin a lot when they dont even have adhd...that can get bad, quick

Alcohol (hands down the most harmful drug left, creates the most destruction and awful behavior from overuse) Adderall (considering the recreational use of it, not medicinal/prescribed) Peyote (seems cool, just haven't done it) Ketamine (basically ditto from above) Cannabis (categorically a pretty good drug, just not a personal fave of mine) Nicotine (doesn't fuck you up, just hits the brain nicely - doesn't make ppl act poorly whatsoever) Caffeine (coffee is a gorgeous asset in this world)
Top three, not sure of best order: mdma, LSD, shrooms

idk just cause alcohol is legal and like 1000000000% more popular obviously itll cause more issues but idk if that's a good argument. It's like saying dogs are the most dangerous animal.

alcohol is one of only 2 drugs you can die from physically withdrawing from (xany/benzos is the other). in contrast, heroin withdrawal can be debilitating but the actual physical withdrawal process is not potentially fatal.
drunk people are responsible for something like 60% of domestic abuse cases and i think something like 35% of traffic fatalities are caused by drunk drivers. the legality thing is a factor, sure, but tonnnns of people smoke weed (esp now that it is legal in more and more areas) and do not cause traffic fatalities hardly ever.
prohibition didnt reduce alcohol related crimes and issues. so idk if the legality thing should really carry much weight when all factors are considered.

check out this collage of pictures of wallace. he's a good dog. i think we should be doing less drugs and more petting dogs and talking them on walks and stuff.

You can die from opiate withdrawal though? and the chances of overdosing is insanely higher anyway lol.

prohibition didnt reduce alcohol related crimes and issues. so idk if the legality thing should really carry much weight when all factors are considered. seems like you just made up a fact here, but the point isnt rly legality, it's people's access and willingness to do it.

at the end of the day, this is a survivor based on inforoo dot com posters' opinions of drugs; there is plenty to say against alcohol, just as there's plenty to say for it since obviously it is popular. we are all entitled to our own opinions, but i think it is more fact than opinion that alcohol is the most detrimental when considering all parameters: individually, relationally (microcosm), and societally (macro level).

I think mushrooms should win, but I've technically had way more fun times while drunk because I've simply been drunk way more. More people have committed crimes or whatever while drunk because simply more people are drunk in general by far. I just think it's weird that the main argument for alcohol being bad is that it's just the most accessible.

and that is where you and i simply disagree haha. i think there are tons of arguments for why alcohol is bad that would be just as pertinent if it was illegal.
severe alcohol hangovers are the worst of any of drugs still left in this survivor of what ive partaken in -- and ketamine and mescaline are the only two i cant personally speak to, but i am guessing neither produce hangovers comparable to alcohol.
ive seen people's personalities shift negatively more when super drunk than any other drug still left on the list. and for people addicted to alcohol, the mental/emotional preoccupation can also not be rivalled by anything left on the survivor list (it def could be by opiates, meth, etc but those are long gone).
the reason drunk driving is such a widespread problem is because for a lot of people, once they've consumed a ton of alcohol their decision making capacity becomes extremely fucked.

I think MDMA has the worst hangovers personally.
Everything here besides caffeine, nicotine and possibly adderall fucks up people's decision making.

I trust you on this one but I thought GHB was literally a date rape drug. That implies more harm to others. But it seems like more people must do it for their own enjoyment than for predatory shit? Correct me if I’m wrong but that was the shit they were making out of pseudo ephedrine or norephanedrine (or whatever it is).

I assume harm to user in that case is still considered to be the person that's actually consuming the GHB, even if they're not doing it on purpose ie: getting drugged.

Yeah that would make sense. Not saying I never went full on intending to black out, but it wouldn’t have been with that stuff I don’t think. Obviously others disagree assuming at least a fair percentage of “users” actually take it willingly which I can only assume is probably the case.

yeah actually a good number of people use GHB recreationally, taking a very measured amount that creates a supposedly enjoyable buzz--not the awful effects of a larger amount used when roofying.

it could also be that drunk driving is such a widespread problem because we have legal, dedicated places for people to go and drink alcohol. There aren't really 'bars' for other drugs where you can just walk in and grab some psychedelics from your friendly bartender after work.

I used to listen to this shock jock, who would tell stories about taking GHB and wander around Los Angeles. And also going into a bunch of K-holes.
And then after a while he ended up becoming some alt-right goon that talked shit about trans people. So that ended.

There's no question whether alcohol or weed is more damaging for individuals and society, and the prevalence of use has nothing to do with it. Make them the same popularity, it's still going to lead to way more domestic abuse and auto accidents. And pot literally can't lead to physical addiction with withdrawals that kill you. It's disingenuous to act like they're equivalent things.
