Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
I've seen you plenty of times having an amazing time with people that are way too drunk, breaking picnic tables, puking, having massive dance parties while T3ddy F1a1r DJs, etc.
yeah inforoo drunk people tend to be pretty fun. this is more so because we are fun, separate of the amount of alcohol being consumed.
sadly, the world is not mostly comprised of the fine characters we have here on inforoo dot com.
well if someone sucks as a person it's also not alcohol's fault

just restating what i already said in a different way, but with alcohol vs. weed its all about predictability. weed behavior is predictable, so predictable that even the most stereotypical depiction of a stoner in any given movie is like 95% accurate. we've all been Slater from Dazed and Confused. we've all bought weed from a Jon Stewart in Half Baked. and with weed as dosage increases the behavior only gets MORE predictable.
alcohol is basically the opposite. the drunk person could be fun and silly and charming, or they could be scary or dour or violent. the latter darker state sucks worse than just about any other intoxicant, but the danger of that possibility is what brings excitement and energy to the whole endeavor.
having said all that, if i could snap my fingers and make alcohol disappear i would. the bad outweighs the good. which is why i've been voting alcohol like the past seven rounds. sorry drunk fam.

i am well aware lmao you said "well you've had fun with drunk inforoo people" and i said "yes, true. these very very tiny portion of the human race here on this forum tends to be a pretty good time when drunk."
ofc shitty people are often going to be even more shitty when drunk, and there are some folks (and some of those ppl are here!) who are often p fun while drunk; neither of these end points on the spectrum negate the presence of countless people who are fine when sober and distinctly less so when drunk
Considering you've found the need to respond to my threads as if you are threatened by me I offer you some peace my confused counterpart. May you find peace in your restless soul.

i've placed at least an initial vote on alcohol for the past 4-5 rounds, a couple times have adjusted to try and save something good (didnt work for molly, RIP). so, so much destruction, family dissolution, vehicular manslaughter, and BILLIONS of dollars of annual health costs has derived from alcohol consumption across the world, but since a lot of people dont like the macro level comments/arguments, i also just have personally found it to have lost its magic p much entirely. so on both a macro and micro level, i've wanted it to go for multiple rounds now lol

This reads as a really great, pro-alcohol and anti-weed argument to me up until the last paragraph.

ya cause way more people partake
this literally is NOT the only reason alcohol causes more harm but you're gonna keep saying it and im gonna keep pushing back so here we are.
sure, more people drink than smoke weed or certainly take acid.
but lets take 1000 people who like to drink to the point of being quite drunk, 1000 people who like to smoke to the point of being quite stoned, and 1000 people who like to take acid/shrooms to the point of being on quite a trip (just trying to even out the "level" for all substances)--there is more incidence of harm to society/those around them and to their own health for the drinker group.
percentage wise, not just numbers wise, alcohol is more destructive societally and to the person. this is a known thing, it isn't just an opinion

Are there any other alcoholics here that want to team up on either LSD or weed? I personally feel like weed was way more cool when it was more forbidden and rappers made it their whole personality.
And I know there's likely no data to support this and blah blah weed is cool and all. But it seems like alcoholics have a better chance of being funny, taking a chance, deciding to dance in public, attracting a girl (or guy or anyone), getting and maintaining a career etc than potheads.
But LSD has more votes on it and seems like the easier candidate to knock out.

Wait so I can take a lot of acid 4 days a week for 10 years and still have my life in good condition?

every single person I've ever known who trips more than a couple times a year is basically brainrotted and socially useless, myself included when that was a thing I did

yeah it's kinda crazy to act like LSD/Molly/Mushrooms/Marijuana etc have no negative side effects lmao like we all know people that have fried their brains

Yeah I'm pretty confused. I've averaged 40 drinks or so a week for a decade. Call that 3 SIGNIFICANT sessions of alcohol per week. I think if you did 3 SIGNIFICANT sessions of LSD every week for 10 years you'd be... idk Ive never done it before

i thought we agreed not to try and make this survivor into something different than it is.
this is not survivor of "which of these do you want to take 4-5 times a week?" then caffeine wouldve won.

Just a couple of times a year? That's a really low bar. I tripped on mushrooms weekly for a while during the pandemic (shout out to sitting in Astoria Park watching the sun set over the Manhattan skyline on Sundays) and still do it every few months, and I'm pretty sure my brain hasn't rotted, yet.
Do you want to dance while also thinking about all the ways you've failed as a human?
UPCOMING SHOWS 11/21 - Caribou @ Avant Gardner 11/23 - LCD Soundsystem @ Knockdown Center 11/25 - TV on the Radio @ Webster Hall 12/5 - LCD Soundsystem @ Knockdown Center 12/7 - LCD Soundsystem @ Knockdown Center 12/14 - LCD Soundsystem @ Knockdown Center

This is all stemming from your "damage done" argument, which Tristan responded to by mentioning that there will be more damage done by something that is done so much more often. We are just in that rabbit hole right now, not saying this is the overall argument.
EDIT: To clarify, I also do think its a good point that you can do alcohol way more. But thats not why I brought up that example or why Im mentioning the concept now.

well there is a point that you can go on a bender and get trashed 4 days in a row at a festival, vacation, bachelor/ette party and have fun every time.

I'd love to see those numbers? the graphs and shit you posted the other day were definitely based on alcohol being way more consumed
i honestly thought you were just goading me this whole time; i did not think you truly reject the facts around alcohol's health risks and how prevalent they are. an estimated one in five deaths of people ages 20 to 49 is attributable to excessive alcohol use.
these comments about "acid can rot your brain" are equally true of abusing any drug, very much including alcohol. but acid and shrooms and weed are not huge risk factors for 9 different types of cancer, alcohol is. they dont harm your liver or heart the way alcohol does. this isnt a thing of "alcohol leads to more people getting cancer than acid does" by way of alcohol being consumed more, it just literally causes the damage by its consumption??
i didnt know any of this was considered debatable info.

we've left out the cultural impact of LSD as well. Like half the music we like on this dumb board arose from psychedelia in general if not acid specifically

But for real, all the things people are saying about drunks being unpredictable seems like it applies 10x for acid, except acid last longer. You just don’t encounter it out and about as often.

Where is the evidence of this? How many examples do we truly have of people who do a shitload of LSD 3 different times a week for years straight?
When I would try to reach out and touch him to see if he was real, was he actually moving out of the way because dude dont be weird what are you doing or was this manifestation my brain created telling it to move to not shatter the reality? To this day I still don't know.
i love this because who among us hasn't been at a show or festival when suddenly some sweaty guy is grunting and gently touching our face. or we live long enough to see ourselves become that guy.
Seeing yourself trying to touch someone else’s face to see if their real is next level tripping
