I feel like we're in something of a limbo until we get down to the last 4 or 5 (football, basketball, baseball, and either hockey or soccer). I just don't know if anyone's going to passionately argue that, like, volleyball (which is awesome, don't get me wrong) doesn't deserve to go out at this stage of the game.

True, but not all soccer is FIFA. I like going to my kid’s soccer games, and I’m pretty sure the guy who mows the field is paid for his troubles.
I have no doubt youth soccer is corrupted. the rot trickles down.
Now that you mention it, in her first game of the season this past weekend, her team won 10-0. The mercy rule dictates that they're not allowed to score more goals when they're up by 6, but they just kept on scoring and no one batted an eye. Is my kid a part of the corrupt machine? DAMN YOU, FIFAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!
