The point is, does John Summit have a higher peak and longer tail than any of those guys mentioned? If not, he's not the one for this game
Well I don't think he should win, but he's already bigger than a bunch of people here will ever be so it would be stupid to vote for him now. like xx is leading right now when they'll prob headline fests next year and a bunch of these acts will never even get to sub level

Ok, this is much more compelling than "Skrillex is headlining Lolla."

do you not consider the RTTD spot headlining? it's basically invented to add another headliner without having to fight over lineup placement.
Would Lil Nas not be top 8 at Lolla this year if he had been booked? Doesn’t that make him a headliner already?
if the question was “who will be a headliner next year”, sure but his music just isn’t great and I don’t know anyone who actually listens to him. Every single he drops requires some fake controversy to stir up hype. The dude is 3 years away from being like a number 2 at whatever 96.1 Jingle Ball arena tour IHeartRadio wants to send to every arena in the country.
maybe, but next year is within the parameters of the question. As of now he probably has top 5 odds on the list to headline a big 4 at least once in the next 10
Anyways my vote is on Renee for now. Too many pop girlies ahead of her in the queue and the others currently around the same level have more juice in my opinion (Gizz is probably the correct answer but I don’t wanna vote my boys out!)
If Tool can headline Bonnaroo twice then so can Gizz at some point
Tool has been playing arenas for almost 25 years .
Hence my saying "at some point". All they really need to do is take like a 3 or 4 year hiatus and label it as "indefinite" but then come back with a total banger of an Omnium-type album. I doubt that they'd ever go that long without playing or making music though.

If this happened it still wouldn’t compare to Tool.

Point of this survivor is who we think could headline several years from now, not from last 25 years. My argument was mostly that drug-friendly, trippy heavy music has a place at headlining Bonnaroo and that if Gizz made the right moves they could easily do it. They've only been around for a decade+, they got time.

I think the comparison is just off. Tool had many songs on the radio and popular videos when videos were a thing. Also it only took a couple of years to take off, like you said Gizz has been at it over 10 years. Don’t get me wrong I’d love Gizz to get that big, I just don’t believe it’s going to happen.

Fwiw, I think if they hold their current style of several albums a year and huge tours then they probably won't. Put more focus on the quality than the quantity. And absence makes the heart grow fonder. They need to make us miss them. Then when they come back Bonnaroo will book them to headline Friday night and it will be the worst selling Bonnaroo ever and we will have threads called "did King Gizz ruin Bonnaroo?"

I could see the xx's next album having a couple TikTok songs that make them HLs, Cigarettes After Sex are playing arenas this year and TV Girl is pretty big too so there's a demand for boring music.
